DALIT LIBERATION SUNDAY -  >7th December : In the context of the recent inhuman violence and attacks on Dalit Christians in Orissa and else where and in the context of the delay in ensuring justice for Dalit Christians by the Central Government, it has been reiterated that Dalit Liberation Sunday be celebrated all across India to sensitise the local congregation about the rights of Dalits, and to call on the congregations about the rights of Dalits, and to call on the congregations to rise up to the occasion and strive for justice, dignity and equality of Dalits.

LOYOLA SCHOOL, KUMARDHUBI: Every body wants to be successful in life. But while dreaming success one should not forget the battle, which is necessary for victory. Life is beautiful when the art of living is understood. The Loyolians have just done that. Their struggle to conquer the sky with their skill and will power has enabled their hard work to bear some fruit in the recent past.

The State Level Sports Meet was held at Jamshedpur from 24th October to 28th October, 2008. The Loyolians put up a good performance with Debasis (Class XI Com) securing the THIRD position..

It was a proud moment when the Loyola Team (Sr) beat the DNS – Mugma  team (Sr.), 15 scores to 6 in the Inter School Basket Ball Match held on November 12, at Loyola  School.

November 14 is a day to be celebrated with great pomp and show. The Loyola Teachers did not hesitate to do so. A Service was conducted praying for the well being of the students in the school and also for those all over the world. This was followed by a variety of entertainment like dance, drama, songs, etc. Every teacher participated. Children were given snacks before dismissal.

The Junior school ( LKG to IV) celebrated Children’s Day on November 12. There was a Drawing competition, picnic on the school ground and film show. The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves. They too were given snacks.

A Dream come true performance was given by 10 students ( X to XII) at DNS F.R.I. this weekend (Nov.15 & 16). It was the first time that Loyola participated in the DNS Film Festival, very novice and nervous. But they returned triumph, bagging the FIRST prize in Review Writing (Vineet Jha – X) and  FIRST prize in Group Coordination (Anup – XI Sc).

But the most successful and appreciating event, the first of its kind ever, in this area that took place in the Loyola Auditorium, was the Parent – Teacher Meeting ( Open Forum). It was held in the evenings (5pm to 6pm) on November 10, 11, 12. It received a good response. Parents came and shared their opinions in matters related to curriculum, co-curriculum, school administration, etc. The difficult questions were tackled very efficiently and confidently by our Principal, Fr. Edward. A few senior and local teachers were with the Principal and Vice Principal (Sr. Jossy) during the meetings. The meetings were conducted in Hindi for the benefit of the parents. Tea and biscuits were served to all.

MASALA BENEFITS: These days it seems everything that is nice is bad for you. Good news then for lovers of spicy curry. A recent US University study has shown that capsaicin, the compound that makes chilli peppers hot, actively fights cancer of the pancreas, one of the most aggressive cancers, by triggering cancer cells to self-destruct.

In a separate study, curcumin, found in the spice turmeric and lot f curry powders, was found to block a key biological pathway needed for the development of melanoma and other cancers. Curcumin was already known to have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties; this new finding might also help to explain why Indians have significantly lower rates of colon, breast, prostate and lung cancer.(RD, September, 200

IN THE CONTEXT OF ATTACK ON US CHRISTIANS

As citizens of India we have a sacred duty to preserve the diversity and the secular fabric of our Nation. The following are some suggestions that we need to do:

1)              Whenever there is an attack and FIR MUST be filed...The, local police may refuse to do so. Then send it by a registered AD to the DSP or Police Commissioner. Be accurate in giving names o any other information.

2)              The FIR can be written in the local language or English or Hindi...Write YOUR VERSION of the reality. .Very often the Police manipulate FIRs and omit important facts/names

3)              Collect the inflammatory materials they are distributing outside your school/church gates. Please lodge a police complaint about such materials

4)              Maintain calm. Do NOT panic...Do NOT get provoked

5)              Write a letter to the GOVERNOR of YOUR STATE about the situation. Tell him/her that your Constitutional Freedoms are being violated. Tell him/her to intervene as the Constitutional Head of the State

6)              Write separate (NOT COPIES) letters to the National Human Rights Commission and the National Commission for Minorities with complete details Please ACT FAST...Do not wait for an IDEAL situation to air your grievance ...that may NEVER come DO NOT go for COMPROMISES. That is merely a delaying tactic...We are citizens of India and we are AS   EQUAL as anyone else in this country - Just DO NOT be AFRAID...!!!
