There are thousands to tell you it cannot be done,

There are thousands to prophesy failure;

There are thousands to point out to you one by one,

The dangers that wait to assail you.

But buckle in with a bit of grin,

Just take off your coat and go to it;

Just start to sing as you tackle the thing

That “cannot be done” and you will do it.

Tribal communities hit by dowry diseases! “ Coming out of isolation and merging into the mainstream, coupled with exposure to the media, has transformed tribal communities not always for the better. Dowry, which was non-existent in tribal society earlier, is fast gaining popularity even among its members. Some instances have come to light recently when tribal women were forced to leave their husbands’ home as they had not brought sufficient dowry… Such dowry practices were not part of tribal society. But social transformation is bringing such evils into our society” said Behura Ekka, former Vice Chancellor of Vinobha Bhave University. He said, “such practices are gaining momentum only in the upper reaches of the community”. (Pioneer 18.07.06)

RSS finds Good Hindus in all political parties: “ In a significant move, the RSS has asked the Hindu community to organize themselves under Dalit leadership and said” good Hindus’ were present in all political parties. Speaking through a hard-hitting editorial published in latest issue of RSS Hindu organ Panchjanaya it said, ‘So long as those believing in caste hierarchy continue to dominate among the Hindus, it would be difficult to instill courage in their spines… Hindu society too can jump over this ocean of crisis, challenges and self-ignorance if they start viewing Dalits as Ram and Hanuman, touch their feet, organize under their leadership and as disciples form an aggressive organization. Only Dalits and the deprived can uplift us, this is an undoubted truth”. (Pioneer 24.07.06)

How to survive a heart attack when alone ? “ Since many people are alone when they suffer a heart attack, without help, the person whose heart is beating improperly and who begins to feel faint, has only about 10 seconds left before losing consciousness. What to do???... Do not panic, but start coughing repeatedly and very vigorously. A deep breath should be taken before each cough, the cough must be deep and prolonged, as when producing sputum from deep inside the chest. A breath and a cough must  be repeated about every two seconds without let-up until help arrives, or until the heart is felt to be breathing normally again. Deep breaths get oxygen into the lungs and coughing movements squeeze the heart and keep the blood circulating. The squeezing pressure on the heart also helps it regain normal rhythm. In this way, heart attack victims can get to a hospital (Journal of general hospital Rochester, August, 06)
