Jalalkhali Church looted and Bible Burnt:  A robbery in the Jalalkhali Church & burning the ‘Bible’ has evoked widespread public anguish in the late night of December 4. Mr. Sujan Khan ,the Catechist went to the Church for the at 5.30 a.m. for the Sunday Mass on December 4. He discovered that the lock of the gate of the Church has been broken. Then he entered the Church and saw the ‘tabernacle’ is broken and all the things are disordered. Then he entered in to the sacristy and saw the cupboard is opened. A burnt Bible was on the floor along with some half burnt communion. A silver crown, chain &  long rosary of Mother Mary have been stolen. The miscreants did not take away the Sunday collection money, which was in the same cupboard.

Speaking to the SAR News the shocked faithful of this area did not accept the incident as a simple theft. But there is also motivation for burning the Bible and also to disturb the Christians before Christmas celebration. (cbcisite)

Cabinet approves ‘Quota’ in Private Professional colleges, Exempts Minority Institutions:  A proposal to restore reservation in the Constitution for scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in unaided private professional educational institutions was approved by the Union Cabinet on Dec. 08. However, it exempts minority unaided institutions.

Earlier the Supreme Court stated that merely because the resources of the State in providing professional education are limited, private educational institutions, which intend to provide better professional education, cannot be forced by the State to make admissions available on the basis of(the) reservation policy to less meritorious candidates.

The Supreme Court also added that unaided minority and non-minority institutions had absolute rights to admit students of their choice in medicine, engineering and other professional courses without government interference. (Cbcisite)
