Text Box: Gidget, a Kissable Pig
Last year the principal at Sean’s school, Kandee Adams, laid down a challenge to the student body. If in total they would read 1,000 books during the school year, she would kiss a pig. For 2,000 she would add dying her hair school colors. If they read 3,000 she would also dress as an gorilla. In addition, 4,000 books, or about 16 books per kid, would bring a special treat – like popsicles for each kid.
The kids wanted to see Kandee make a fool of herself so by Christmas it was obvious that she was going to have a date with a pig. However, where could the school get a kissable pig? Frank and Joy Spinelli came to the rescue and volunteered their remarkable Gidget.
While the date wasn’t to occur until late May, in early Spring Kandee was presented with a photo of Gidget, that adorned her door.
Text Box: Kandee Adams, the principal at Brookside School, starting to kiss our niece, Gidget. By her example she taught the kids that a bargain made is a deal that must be kept.

Text Box: On the appointed day Kandee formally met Gidget and kissed Gidget. She also dyed her hair, dressed as an gorilla and provided popsicles for all of the kids. The kids were thoroughly excited and happy they had met the challenge. We were grateful to Frank and Joyce for volunteering Gidget for the day. Gidget seemed pleased as well.
