Grade Social Studies
Welcome to 8th
Grade Social Studies! This year we will
be looking at our great nation from its birth to reconstruction after the Civil
War. Often times, we do not truly
understand the depth of the term social studies. The field of social studies includes a variety of disciplines
which include: history, political science, geography, economics, sociology,
anthropology, and psychology.
Throughout the year, we will be paying attention to each of these
disciplines as they relate to the story of our nation. Two core themes of our course this year are
Effective Citizenship and The Struggle for Rights.
The text we are using for this course is American
Nation.
The website (see link) offers online activities and practice tests that
will help prepare you for our quizzes and tests throughout the year.
