Better lighters in 3 steps

First for warmth, second for cooking and third for entertainment (aka lighting assorted things on fire): The three basic uses of fire.
But there is plenty more to fire than that. You see ... Lighters, most anyhow, can be altered in a very slight way to increase the flame it produces beyond that of what the preset max is, this is tweaking. This can result, with enough work and a lighter with the flexiblity, in a small version of a flamethrower if you can manage it. For the lighters used in these experiments at an amateur level, the max is about 6 inches or so. Big flames, but that means a lot of fuel is used to create the flame which is being spoken about in this occasion. With a transparent lighter where you can see the butane level, you can see the drain very easily that is a the result of this work and alteration of the lighter. On the good side, this is very safe to do, you don't need to worry about the lighter blowing up. Just be sure not to work near open flames (if you're using a lighter and messing around with it, why would you be near open flames anyhow?)

The Process: 1. Take the cover off from the front of the lighter (some can just be slipped off, others, bend them out of shape to take it off or pry it off with a key)
2. Now you have free access to the part that controls the amount of gas expended to create the flame. You can:
  A) Cut the plastic away and use a pen or key to adjust the the wheel MORE to increase the flame
  B) Work with that plastic, lift it off the wheel that controls the flame, move it back a bit without moving the wheel, then set it down and move it to increase the flame.
3. Light the sucker up and see the results of your work!

Now you have your tweaked lighter, be proud and go light something on fire with it!
