» WHAT'S NEW FOR 2004: OFFSEASON BALLOTING RESULTS

All the votes aren't in, but you've had your chance! Drum roll, please:

1. Eliminate the rule requiring each team carry two defenses?
Suggested by the Commish
Yay: 5
Nay: 2
MOTION PASSES!

Mediocre defenses around the NFL are crying out in pain. No more guaranteed contract!

2. Push the starting lineups deadline back to noon Sunday?

MOTION PASSES!

Relax. You no longer have to wake up in a panic-stricken sweat early Sunday morning, realizing you didn't turn in your lineup :)

3. Include special teams turnovers, touchdowns (except returns) and safeties in defensive scoring?
Suggested by the Commish
Yay: 7
Nay: 0
MOTION PASSES!

The Commish extends his warmest thanks to all those who voted for this. After several beers and six or seven hours of watching football on TV (glorious as that is), tabulating each week's scoring just got a lot easier.

4. Create at separate yardage chart for tight ends?
(5 points for 60-99 yards, 5 points for 100-149 yards, and 8 points for 150 yards or more)
Suggested by Todd

MOTION PASSES!

If this doesn't sell you on taking Alge Crumpler with your first-round pick, I don't know what will.

5. Implement a new yardage-based scoring system?
(1 point per 10 yards (or 25 for passing) and scores count 6 (maybe 3 or 4 for a TD pass)
Suggested by Tim
Yay: 0
Nay: 7
MOTION FAILS MISERABLY

The league apparently likes Tim's original scoring system concept better.

Suggestion Nos. 6 and 7 both passed with flying colors, but it doesn't really matter since we're not going to 12 teams.
