The Commish's Season IV SEMIFINALS PLAYOFF PREVIEW
Locale: The Nest2 (not to be confused with the Jayhawks' Nest)
Head-2-head: The 'Hawks took a Week 6 matchup, 55-40 (back when there was a regular-season race), while the 'Birds flew away with a 58-27 romp in Week 12.
Postseason history: Never met.
How they got here: The Jayhawks surprised the Bottlerockets 77-50. TB2 paved the Swamp, 92-56.
Who has the edge? OK, so you noticed Corey Dillon had a nice day. 27 points against the Browns. Guess who Fred Taylor gets to play this week? Whap! Hollis and McCardell in Cleveland too? Sploosh! Big-play Tony Banks vs. the Saints? Bam! The Jayhawks are kicked around like Batman's bad guys in a laugher. Same bat time, same bat winner. Tune in next week for the Tech Bowl, T-Buzzard.
Prediction: T-Biz2, 92-54.
What's next for the victor: Weathermen/Collards winner.
Locale: The WeatherCenter Dome ("Where It Never Rains -- or Shines")
Head-2-head: When these two meet, you want to have a ticket. They tied, 66-66, in Week 7. Then the Collards corraled a 46-45 victory in Week 13.
Postseason history: They collided two years ago in the '97 semifinals, and CG won a 28-14 snoozer.
How they got here: The W-men broke the Gambler, 51-27. The Green ruined an all-Original 4 semifinals by upending the second-seeded Killer, 57-41.
Who has the edge? If nothing else, go Green -- he's the only one with a backup kicker. Hell, he's the only one with a kicker since Kasay got hurt (that's a first -- losing your kicker to an injury!) Favre vs. the Vikes and James vs. the Skins looks good, but so does Marvin Harrison vs. Washington! This game will have more wacky twists and turns than a Choose Your Own Adventure book. Dominant Mascot Theory doesn't help pick a winner -- who'd win between a Weatherman and a crop? Oh well, 'tis the season for Green.
Prediction: Colored Greens, 70-60.
What's next for the winner: T-Bird2/Jayhawks winner.
