Welcome to
Jerry's Swatch of the Month
March 1999
Folon (Maxi)

"Born in Brussels in 1934, Jean-Michel Folon
gave up his architectural studies in order to devote himself to painting and engraving.
He designed theatre sets, magazine covers, advertisements, posters, wine labels, etc.
Also, a few years ago, his characters floating in the middle of a blue space of infinite
poetry made millions of television viewers dream, just before the hour, in front of the
closing titles of Antenne 2 (the old name of the French television channel Trance
2").
Folon is the author of many books (Lettre a Giorgio, La mort d'un arbre, Le regard du
temoin). Often involved in noble undertakings, such as working for world peace, for the
disabled, and for safeguarding our environment, he worked on the graphic creation of the
"Universal Declaration of the Rights of Man" and produced posters for Unicef,
Greenpeace and Amnesty International."
(from Daniel J. Komar & Francois Planche from Guide to Swatch Watches vol. II)
This is the first Maxi Swatch to be entered in Jerry's Swatch of the Month. And uniquely most of Maxi Swatch are replica of the regular gentlemen model. But for Folon Maxi, we will never find the same model in the regular Swatch. More than 50 regular readers of Swatch of the Month ask this watch to be featured since May 1996.
