Black Sheep

Hey, this is not only a Swatch, it's a symbol. Yes, what can you say about it. It represents more than ever what Swatch can be, and should be. It's not only a pretty and cute watch, it's now also a symbol. Very few watches can claim this particular honor, but just for memory's sake, To Che, Lolita, Asetra and Sex Tease are all symbols in their own way of Swatch: "fun, audacity, daring, and joy". But why is it that Black Sheep is now one of the most sought after Swatches, and not something as cute as Frozen Tears, Sweet Baby, Strip, or Flack (the cowhide of the Confederation Set)? Well, in my opinion, it's a combination of sales, and production, in the case of Black Sheep, the production line was stopped much too soon. This added to the fact that it was a good sales watch, overnight they all disappeared from stores' shelves. Very few collectors had the presence of mind to buy it immediately and not wait to see it at half price in a discount sale (or outlet). Now regrets, or missed opportunities, make the price go up among collectors, but will none of the collectors remember some other models that touched a wider, general public? All that I can say is that Black Sheep is a great Swatch, and hopefully more models will follow, next time fewer collectors will be off-guard. Swatch could help by telling us the number of models produced, but that way some of the mystery and charm would disappear, wouldn't it?>> (Swatch Commentary by Daniel Pineda Van Gelder)
