WEB SITE
(GM 138)

"Call in the Pros! Don't let anyone fool you. Information retrieval-real, highly focused, cost effective information retrieval-is both skill and the art. The World Wide Web (WWW or Web Site) is good for browsing information but not for searching for it. And while Archie, Gopher, Veronica, and the rest have their place, they only know about Internet." (Alfred and Emily Glossbrenner in their book Internet Slick Tricks)

John Dvorak in his book, "Dvorak Predicts" , never mentioned one word about Web Site.

The Nature of the Web and hypertext destroy context. We literary surf from one place to another without going to any depth. If TV is the vast wasteland, then the Web is a phenomenally surface-shallow hole of mediocrity. (Cliff Stoll in Digerati by John Brockman).

These false predictions always underestimate regarding the feature of Web Site. Currently Web Site has been able to combine all internet features that used to require several software packages to perform. From Email, Newsgroup readers and posting, Gopher enable browser, Search Engines, and the amazing world of Web Sites themselves.

They also never predicted that we will become more and more Web Sites dependent. From searching hobbies and interests in the internet, to a more advance searching medical or financial information, to electronic transaction, to dating service, to make money, etc. We, the Webheads, rely to the technology of Web Site.

Web Site is very important, if possible I would say the most important element in the Internet. It is the most attractive thing that make people to try the Internet. The value of its invention might be as important as the invention of money, printing technology, Telephone and Television. Web Site, it is here to stay. It is the future.
