The Tides game in Norfolk
We got tickets for the Tides game, Norfolk's Triple A Mets minor league team. It was hot...dripping, sweltering, too-hot-to-be-amongst the few thousand fans whom were suffering a similar fate on this festering friday evening...
But, we had a great time. My parents are in town from Ft. Collins, Colorado, visiting their favorite grandchildren and there was something special, and dareIsay, "family" about all of us going to the "game" together. We skipped the apple pie, however.
My neighbore Paul used to coach a new addition to the Tides, Ruben Gotay from Fajardo, Puerto Rico, so we cheered him on, me yelling "Fajardo" each time he hit the plate or field, at one point my mother saying he flinched, thinking he might have heard me...
After 7 innings, my daughter Katryn was REALLY ready to go, so we left at 4-1 with the Tides losing...We later learned the Tides came back to win 5-4...To quote a respected colleague of mine in the media, the honorable Homer Simpson...."DOLP!!!"
