| Martha Lizzie Smith's father was James Bryant "Polk" Smith 1843 - 1936 . He was a private in Co. B. 56th Regiment Georgia Volunteers from Carroll County of the Confederate States of America. He was captured at Vicksburg, Mississippi on July 4, 1863 and was paroled on July 8, 1863. He went home and after a rest, got into shape to fight again, he joined back up and was promoted to Corporal. On March 16, 1865 while leaving the hospital, he was in the Battle of Bentonville North Carolina on March19, 1865. He was finally paroled in Atlanta Georgia on April 26 1865. Martha Lizzie Smith's mother was Nancy Ann Nichols 1851 - 1908. . |
