| Emanuel Schaeffer,1793-1864, served as Associate Judge of the Courts of Lancaster for nine years. He served on the City Council for thirteen years, was President of the Lancaster Savings Institution and was an Elder of the Church of God. |

| Emanuel was the son of Phillip Schaeffer and Grandson of Balthasar Schaeffer. Having lost his father at a young age, his mother and family moved in with her Father's family-John Miller-an eminent citizen of Lancaster.At the age of 15, Emanuel was apprenticed to a harnessmaker.After learning his trade, he opened his own business. At 25, he married Mary Metzger who died 5 years later.In 1827, he married Elizabeth Metzger (sister of his 1st wife).She died in 1856 leaving the following chilren: Mary E. wife of John Herr Margaret Louisa wife of Mr. Levergood Emeline R. wife of Brady McNeal Emmanuel W-Saddlemaker |
