This is the page on the Bona Fide Basic and Bona Fide Q!Basic website all about the ACOS OSS. (A Crappy Operating System Operating System Shell). You might say that it's impossible to write an OS in QBasic, and you'd be right. It is. This is just a bunch of INPUT statements that execute separate files. It is ONLY a text OSS. If you want a lot of info on ACOS, or want to become a developer, or something ridiculous (but really helpful) like that, e-mail me at [email protected]. (No, that's not a link. Extra work for you, less spam for me)
Please click here to download BETA 2.2 version of ACOS.

BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING!!!!read this licence file!. ACOS IS NOT A OPENWARE LICENCED PROGRAM! (All the other programs on this site are distributed under the made-up OpenWare licence. This OSS is not, and neither are the files included in the download.)

New in BETA 2.2

1. DOS shell implimented, you can actually do stuff with this now. I'm not sure if you can run other DOS programs, and if someone knows, please e-mail me at the acos address ([email protected]). NOTE: To exit this shell, type exit. Plain and simple. 2. All icons currently available included in download. (see the icons page for more information...)
Old version updates and news

Changes in README.TXT STILL NOT INCLUDED IN THIS DOWNLOAD, PLEASE CLICK HERE TO VIEW LATEST VERSION!
I don't know when I'm going to include this...I don't know how. Since Geo stopped free users from FTP access, there is no way for me to download this file and include it in this version. I'll probibly have to go the "cut-and-paste" way and upload the new file. Sorry! :*(

New in BETA 2.1
1. CalQLator program finished.
I know, that doesn't seem significant enough to use a whole .1 of a version, but having a WORKING calculator that does more than multiplication could be handy...
2. Icon file removed. I didn't like the icon, and am not on my computer at this time, and so cannot create a new icon. Soon a selection of icons can be downloaded. Setup information for the icons will be found on the
icon page.

2. Only one .BAS file, all others SUBed into ACOS.BAS
3. ACOS.EXE (compiled version) created. (And it runs, too!:)
4. Changes in README.TXT NOT INCLUDED IN YOUR DOWNLOAD!! CLICK HERE FOR LATEST VERSION!! Sorry about this: since Ye Olde Geo made the FTP access on a premium version >:(, I cannot update the files in the download. Also, you'll have to print the document :(, sorry!

INSTRUCTIONS FOR RUNNING ACOS:
Acos MUST be installed in the [C:\] drive in the directory (or "folder") ACOS. Unzip the file directly in the folder. DO NOT EDIT, RENAME OR OTHERWISE CHANGE ANY FILES IN THE DOWNLOAD! Run the acos.bas file with the QBasic editor (DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE WITHOUT WRITTEN PERMISSION THAT CAN BE OBTAINED BY E-MAILING WEBMASTER JORDAN AT [email protected]!).

If you cannot read this, or would like this is "plain english", please e-mail [email protected]. Thank you.
