In the area entering the basement we made it larger than you normally would. This allowed us to add much needed bookcases and storage areas.
The floor is actually the concrete floor painted to resemble tile. We taped off grout lines, painted a solid color, then sponged our other colors in every other square. Then we used a leaf stamp in the remaining squares.
We stenciled the stair raisers.
On the bottom newel we attached a bear carving done by on of the craftsmen from the area.
