To pull the country out of the Great Depression, President Roosevelt surrounded himself with a diverse group of intellectuals known as the Brain Trust. He introduced his New Deal programs to the American people through the use of Fireside Chats on public radio. These speeches explained in simple language the Relief, Reform, and Recovery legislation he wanted passed.
