Introduction
For most students, the study of the Civil War is equated with the study of Slavery. However, historians agree that while slavery is A cause of the Civil War, it is not THE cause of the Civil War: there are LOTS of causes. For this treasure hunt, I would like for you to use the links provided in order to locate the answers to the questions below. At the end of this treasure hunt, there is a "big question". You will be expected to take NOTES on the "big question" and prepare to write an in-class 5-paragraph essay in response to it. THE ESSAY WILL BE A TEST GRADE.

Questions
Explain some of the Social causes of the Civil War
Explain some of the
Political causes of the Civil War
Explain some of the
Economic causes of the Civil War
For each of the above questions, I then want you to answer these following questions:
1. Is anyone at fault for these issues?
2. Could these issues have been avoided?
a. If so, how?
The Big Question
Was the Civil War an avoidable conflict? Take notes based on the answers to the questions listed above, and prepare to write a 5-paragraph essay in class in which you address that question. You may take a "yes" or "no" stance, but you must have evidence to back yourself up!!!
