| ����������� You will work in groups of 2 or 3 to create a magazine about the Civil War time period. Remember that all articles must be accurate and comprehensive. Your magazine should provide the readers with an in-depth look at the Civil War period as a whole. |

| ����������� Note the types of propaganda, stories, writing style, and political cartoons of the time. Include major events and movements of the era, major people, art, entertainment, fashion, etc. The magazine will cover the American culture and events of the time. |

5 news stories about major events relating to the designated time period
1 feature story on a major political figure of the time
2 feature stories about other important political figures or "people of influence"
1 picture to accompany each news article or feature story
Bylines for all stories
2 pages dedicated to entertainment and art (music, literature, etc.)
1 page dedicated to the fashion of the time
1 political cartoon from the period (find a cartoon: it must contain an analysis by YOU ,however if you truly can't find a cartoon, you may draw one yourself.
Captions for all pictures and cartoons
At least 5 Advertisements of the time (either found or created by you)
A cover featuring a date, title, highlights of the magazine
A table of contents page
A works cited page at the very end of your magazine (obviously this is so I know where you got your information and is not truly a part of your magazine) |

You may use as many sources, both internet and print, as you feel are necessary for this project. You may also divide the work amongst the members of your group. However, no specific class time will be allotted to compile the work if it was divided. You must come in with the project complete on the assigned date. |

There will be plenty of media center time for this project. I fully expect superb magazines from each group!!!!! |

You will preferably present this project using Microsoft Publisher. You MUST see me if this is a problem!!!!! |
