Student Classroom
Activities

When you enter our classroom this is your greeting.

We are now into our second month of school and everyone has become very comfortable with their classroom routines.  Every morning we begin the day with both music, singing our favourite songs and learning new ones and participating in physical education classes.  When we are finished we have our morning message and complete our calendar and decide what our weather bear will need to wear for the day.  The students really enjoy dressing our weather bear.

The SK's just recently  read Pumpkin, Pumpkin by Jeanne Titherington.  This is a story about a boy, Jamie, who plants a pumpkin seed and watches as it grows through the different stages.  They then completed their own sequence activity on the stages of pumpkin growth.

Pumpkin as a sprout. Pumpkin growing larger. Pumpkin just picked. Pumpkin sequence activity.

Both classes recently had a surprise visit from Sparky the fire dog. After viewing a video, Sparky talked to them about fire safety in their homes. We were also very fortunate to have a team of firefighters come to our classroom and speak to us about fire safety too.  We were then given a tour of their fire truck and we permitted to sound the horn and siren!

Our SK class just went on their first field trip of the school year.  We visited Fort William Historical Park.  We were given a wagon ride around the fort and through the farm.  We viewed the animals that were there.  After the wagon ride we were treated to some hot chocolate then we played some games that were popular in 1815.
