Bicycle Safety and Hazard Prevention
Let�s go to bicycle safety camp! Second grade students will learn the rules of the road, how to understand road signs, and a checklist for bicycle safety. In �Operation Identification� they will be able to identify their address and phone number in the event of an emergency and how to access 911 using their own handmade cell phone. Teeth and Hygiene
How many teeth do we have? Why do baby teeth fall out? What are teeth made of? These questions and more will be answered in this unit. Students will make a mouth model and learn how to keep their body clean. They will be given a chance to keep a personal hygiene passport and earn stickers.

Character Development
Watch us grow, watch us blossom. From baby shoes to business shoes, second graders are tracking their growth and development on time lines. They are learning how to make the world more beautiful by practicing character traits such as respect, honesty, kindness, responsibility, and self-awareness. Ask them to share with you their keys to success.

Muscles
Muscles in motion everyday. Let's use those muscles at work and play. In this unit second graders will explore how their muscles work.  They will make and label a giant working arm. Ask them to show you thier biceps and triceps. 

Brain and Senses
Cerebrum, cerebellum, the brain is where you see them. Second graders will learn how the brain, senses, and memory are all connected. Using pneumonic devises, students will surprise you with complex brain anatomy. Brain bingo anyone?

Nutrition
The focus of this unit is improving nutrition through balance, variety, and moderation. Using the food pyramid, students will learn how to categorize and select food. They will analyze snacks for fat content and make their own school snack list. This unit will culminate with a project based on a well known fairy tale. �Nibble nibble like a mouse, whose been nibbling on my house?.�

Healthy Heart
Four small rooms with pounding walls push red streams down dark long halls. The size of your fist, a powerful muscle, it beats much faster when you hustle and bustle. In this unit students will be challenged to learn the importance of  heart health such as exercise and good nutrition. How about some chair dancing? 

Summer Safety
Bring on the bathing suits, pails, and shovels but don�t forget the sun screen. With summer days away, students will review sand, water, and sun safety rules. See you at the beach!
