Situation:
Driving on the highway.
Time:
Whenever
Problem:
Road construction
Solution:
Shoot me in the face
Now honestly, how many times have we all been
driving on a two-lane stretch of highway and then all of a sudden came upon
road construction. You either have to
wait long hours to get through, turn around and backtrack, or just run over the
crew to get through (poem), but they don’t like the latter one. Haven’t you seen the clever “Give’em a brake.”
Or “My Daddy/Mommy works here. Please
be careful.” signs. Well good news
kids, Daddy and Mommy work for people without problem solving skills.
Okay, let’s say that the crew plans on fixing both
sides of the road. How do they do
this? Well one side at a time of
course. They block off the side they
want to fix and extend the other side of the road out a bit to let people get
through. Good for them. However there is one problem here. By the time they have fixed the other side,
the side every car has been traveling on is screwed up. So they switch sides and fix the other side
while blocking it off and extending out what they just fixed. Then every car that goes by drives on that a
while, normally a period of not less than six months. By the time the second side is done, the first fixed side is
screwed up. So they switch and do it
all over again. They just keep screwin’
it up, unscrewin’ it up, screwin’ it up, unscrewin’ it up, screwin’ it up,
unscrewin’ it up, screwin’ it up, unscrewin’ it up…and it gets really old. I have about got out of my car one time just
to go up to the lead supervisor and tell him he was a moron. I know they may have money restraints that
allow only one side at a time, but in the long run I think it’s cheaper on the taxpayers
and the states if the just fix it all at once.
How you ask. Well they like
making those road extensions so bad, make one on each side of the road…like a
temporary road. Then fix the middle and
tear up the extension, or use it for another lane or something, but this one
side for all cars is bull. It makes me
nuts.
This monologue is short, but it gets right to the point and hits you across the face with it. I really can’t say anymore about this subject without driving myself off of a bridge with road construction on it that only has ONE SIDE EXTENDED…GOOD LORD!!
