| There are many different types of houseing for gerbils.The main 3 are glass aquarium, wire cage, and habitrail. I prefer glass aquarium over the rest. I like glass aquarium because it is hard to escape, and very clean. The wire cage can be dangerious if the gerbils chew on it they can get there noses rubbed. The habitrail ones are easy to escape from, and they can be very expensive. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
| Food | ||||||||||||||||||||||
| There are a lot of commercial diets on the market. Most of them are good to feed and offer a good diet. I seperate the sunflower seeds from the food and use them as treats for the gerbils. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
| Bedding | ||||||||||||||||||||||
| There are a few commercial bedding such as carefresh, aspen, and pine. NEVER use pine or ceder as it can cause breathing problems in the gerbils especially the young ones. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
| Toys | ||||||||||||||||||||||
| First of all try to stay away from plastic toys as the gerbils chew them right up. A wheel is a favorite among most gerbils. I hang the wheel from the ceiling of there aquarium (wire top). As far as the other toys you can make fun toys for real cheap. One idea is take 4 by 4 piece of wood then drill holes in it. Another idea I have done is buy 1.25 inch PVC pipe and some fittings. I put it in one of the tanks and covered all except the openings with bedding. They love it and it costed about $3.50. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
