Scarecrows

If time permits I try to fit in a little fun with scarecrows in the fall. The students love the scarecrow pocket chart poem and the little reading book we make to go along with it. I also use scarecrows to help the students learn about voting.

We put our names into this poem and the students just love it.

Scarecrow , Scarecrow,
How scary can you be?
You scared _______
But you didn't scare me.

We make scarecrows and do interactive writing about them.

We can measure the parts of a giant scarecrow.


We vote for the scarecrow's name.	Mr. Patches was the winner.
