Joey's Media Recommendations

Peter Moon's, Magic of the Ukulele, is a must have. It's just incredible to be able to watch a legend in action, and even better...
have the ability to hit rewind or hit slow-motion on your VCR and really study his technique (it's not available on DVD).
Not completely for the beginning ukulele player, but it definitely shows what creativity the ukulele can achieve.
Peter Moon truly brings magic out of the ukulele.

Jake Shimabukuro! The guy's incredible. Just do a search for him online and you can see footage of him playing his rendition of
George Harrison's, My Guitar Gently Weeps. You'll see his amazing skillz as he is a ukulele virtuoso. On this DVD,
Jake teaches you the basics and how to apply those basics to a song. He also teaches you how to play the popular Beatle's song, "Yesterday".
Along with all that, there's footage of one of Jake's concerts and a backstage interview.

Troy Fernandez (left)... all those insane solos done on every Ka'au Crater Boys album.. He's the one!
Be sure to listen to "Guava Jam", "Noho Pai Pai", "On Fire", and "Kawika". His solo's have become standards for every ukulele player to learn.
Really fun stuff!

This is probably my all time FAVORITE CD. Imua, Kahale, and B.B. Shawn (Blind Boy Shawn Ishimoto)
are some of the best ukulele players you'll ever hear! There's no song on this album that doesn't tease you with small ukulele licks to
really in your face ukulele solo's. I've been fortunate to see these guys play in person. Let's just say... life's complete. =)

Ukulele Stylings... I believe there were 2 more CD's released after this first one. Mainly, it's fully acoustic compilations of
the best of the best ukulele players playing the best ukulele solo's ever. Amazing compilation of talent!

Lastly, Abe Lagrimas...
This guy does it all! Graduating from Berklee School of Music in New York, Abe has learned to master the ukulele, piano, and
all realms of percussion. Along with all that, he's an incredible arranger/composer. The beauty in his music speaks for itself...
