Alexis stepped out of the terminal looking around the crowded airport timidly. Her green eyes were wide with excitement but her bottom lip caught in between her teeth betrayed her emotions. She was nervous. Orlando was a lot different than a suburb of Memphis and she couldn’t help the butterflies that were relentless in bouncing around her stomach. Tucking a chunk of sunny blonde hair behind her ear she looked around for a sign directing her to the baggage claim. Looking over her shoulder as she walked Alexis yelped as she collided with something hard. Her green eyes traveled up a slender but firm and well-defined body until they met the most breathtaking blue orbs she had ever had the honor of seeing. She just stared. Her mind wasn’t functioning and her heart was pounding so loud she couldn’t have thought over the noise anyway.

The stranger met her piercing gaze head on until he finally broke it by coughing. “Sorry,” he mumbled as Alexis continued to stare at him.

She could only nod as he stepped around her, heading down the corridor. Alexis shook her head and blinked her cat like eyes rapidly a few times. He was definitely gorgeous…but that was embarrassing. Since when the fuck do I forget how to talk just because of some hot guy? Mumbling to herself under her breath she swept down the concourse in search of the baggage claim. Finally after fifteen minutes of fruitless searching she found the desired location and had successfully loaded seven bags full of what her mother referred to as “junk” onto a cart. Wheeling it outside she grinned as a cab pulled up to the curb.

After her stuff was loaded into the trunk Alexis climbed into the backseat, excited to begin her first day of her new life in Orlando.

“NO!” yelled Arianna her honey brown eyes bright with frustration. Slamming her hand down on the floor she jumped in one fluid motion off the ground. Turning off the stereo she faced the three exhausted girls standing in the center of the sweaty room. “Dance full out or get the hell out. Have I not said that since the first damn day?” Arianna glared at them and shook her head. Walking to the side of the room she lifted her right leg in full extension. Rising onto eleve she flicked her right wrist before dropping into a chasse and then executing a perfect side switch leap. Her hands on her full hips she faced the girls. “Is it that damn hard?”

“We’ve been dancing for three hours AJ,” groaned Karyann. She smoothed the sweat from her forehead back into her brown ponytail.

The studio door and opened and Arianna sighed. “Take five.” She turned to look at Heather, the receptionist, who was followed by a gorgeous tall blonde. “What’s up Heather?”

Heather smiled, “Workin’ them to death again AJ?”

“Always,” retorted Arianna with a quick smile. She held up her forefinger before quickly jogging over to bag. Grabbing a large bottle of icy water she hurried back over. “Okay go,” she took a huge gulp and then rested the cool bottle against her sweaty forehead.

“This,” Heather gestured behind her. “Is Alexis Taylor our new recruit.”

Arianna’s eyes narrowed at that. “Oh yah?”

“Down AJ,” Heather laughed, recognizing the challenging look in Arianna’s eyes. “Alexis, this is our main Senior Co choreographer and teacher Arianna Jensen, better known as AJ.”

Alexis smiled her green eyes twinkling. She loved it when girls were intimidated by her presence. Her reputation preceded her and in her case it was a good thing. “Hey.”

“Welcome to The Beat,” responded Arianna. “When do you start?”

“Right now.” Heather answered for her. “She’s gonna sit in on your class Age.”

“Whatever.” Arianna pointed to a chair in the corner of the room, “You can sit there and get a feel for what typical class is like.”

Alexis didn’t reply just strutted to the chair and sat down, crossing her legs at the ankles.
