“Justin.” His name could barely escape my lips. I
felt the tears streaming down my face. I couldn’t
believe he was standing in front of me. I honestly
believed I would never look into his blue eyes again.
But there I was, crying, right in front of him and his
friends.
“Y’all know each other?” I heard Lance say as he
pointed at Justin and I.
“We are best friends.” Justin said, his eyes still not
leaving mine.
“We were.” I said then turned to exit the room.
“Becca, please wait.” I heard Justin yell from behind
me.
**
***June 1st 1994***
“Rebecca wait!” I heard Justin yell after me.
“No!” I hated when Justin saw me cry. It’s not like
he never has bit still, I was crying over him.
“C’mon Rebecca!” he said still running after me.
“GO AWAY JUSTIN!” I yelled as I continued to yell.
“Rebecca,” I felt his arms fly around me and pull me
down, “Don’t you know you can’t run faster than me?”
“Justin, please leave me alone!” I threw my hands over
my face so he wouldn’t see me cry.
“Rebecca, why are you crying?” His voice grew sincere
and gentle.
“Because,” I finally moved my hands from my face, “You
are an asshole.”
“What? Why?” Justin honestly didn’t know what he did,
but he’s a guy so, it’s typical.
“Justin you called me one of the guys, and as much as
I love playing football, baseball, and other stuff
with you I am not one of the guys.” I said.
“I’m sorry Bee, I didn’t know it would hurt your
feelings that bad.” Justin sounded caring.
“Well it does Justin.” I was always with Justin and
his friends. I didn’t really get along with other
girls. So everyone associated Justin with me and me
with Justin.

“Rebecca.” Justin pulled my face up. He looked so
amazing. His blue eyes were so familiar and
comforting.
“Justin, I really don’t want to talk to you.” I said
placing my face in my hands.
“Rebecca, we need to talk.” Justin was being
persistent as always.
“Justin, why didn’t you say good-bye?” My eyes met his
again.
“I tried!” Justin told me, “I called your house four
times that night, I wrote you like 100 letters.”
“My dad died that night Justin.” I cut him off.
“What?” Justin’s breathing grew heavier and tears
coated his eyes.
“Yeah Justin, that night someone broke into our house
and killed my dad.” I said as the tears built up in my
eyes again, “So I had to move to LA with Amiee.”
“Rebecca…” Justin wrapped his arms around me into a
tight hug. I longed for that hug for so long, for too
long.

***October 2nd 1994***
“Did you kiss her?” I asked Justin who was playing
with my radio.
“NO!” He got this look of disgust on his face.
“Why not?” I really didn’t want to know but I was
playing the best friend role.
“Because kissing is gross,” Justin laughed, “Besides,
I don’t know how to kiss with my tongue.”
“You don’t know how to kiss?!” I exclaimed.
“No.” He said quietly in embarrassment.
“Oh my gosh! It’s not hard.” I said.
“Oh yeah, well, who have you kissed?” He said.
“Um, Robbie.” I lied, I never kissed Robbie, and I had
never kissed anyone at that.
“Robbie? EW!” He little voice yelled.
“Shut up!” I said.
“Will you teach me how?” Justin asked.
“You mean like kiss you?” I was over-excited. Of
course I wanted to kiss him, but I pretended to be
disgusted.
“Yeah come on Bee, please.” His blue eyes grew into a
plead.
“Fine.” I moved closer to him, “Close your eyes.”
“Why?” He asked.
“Because Justin, that’s how you do it.” I said from my
experience of watching movies.
“Um, alright.” He said. He closed his eyes and our
lips met. I slowly moved my tongue into his mouth. I
felt his body tense up. It was really cute and it was
our first kiss.
**
“Guys, remember that girl in the picture?” Justin said
to the four men standing before him.
“Yeah that hot one.” Joey laughed.
“Dude, she was like 12 in that picture.” Chris smacked
Joey’s chest.
“So, she’ hot now.” Joey winked at me.
“Um, yeah this is Rebecca, my best friend from back
home.” Justin said.
“Well hey Rebecca, it looks like you’ll be spending a
lot of time with us.” Lance smiled at me.
“Yeah, I guess.” I said quietly.
“Well look you guys we need to started recording and
then sit down with Rebecca to get everything settled,
do you need anything Rebecca?” JC asked me.
“I’m cool, Ill just watch.” I said then walked into
the sound booth.
