Chapter 21

"Joey, where's Nina?" I could hear Tiffany ask in the other room.

"She's in the car." Joey said. I could hear him kiss her cheek and make his way into the room where Lance, JC, and I were sitting. I could never get the next look off his face. Shock and a little bit of fear showed in his features. He smiled shyly at the couple and acknowledged out presence, "JC, Lance, Justin."

"Joey." We all three said at the same time. It wasn't a big deal that Joe was there because Joey and Lance agreed they'd continue to be the best of friends, it was Nina I was worried about.

"Joey, I…" Nina's words were quickly paused as she caught view of JC in Lance's arms. "Oh, Lance, JC, I didn't know you two would be here." Nina shot a look at Tiffany. I loved my wife she just smiled and nodded.

"Yeah, we um, didn't know y'all were coming either." Lance unravled his arms from around JC.

"Dinner is really, let's go." Tiffany said breaking the odd silence coming from the room.

All five us walked slowly to where Tiffany had set up a beautiful table. All of us sat down to a plate of chicken, mashed potatoes, and veggies. I love her cooking. After Tiffany insisted on Joey saying grace we ate our food in silence. It was weird and Tiffany knew it so of course she had to break the silence.

"So how's Vanessa doing?" Tiffany asked before putting a piece of chicken in her mouth.

"She's great. She looks just like Nina." Joey said.

"How come you never bring her around JC and I?" Lance asked. It kind of stopped the eating at the table and all eyes were on Nina.

"Um, I don't know, you guys have never really said anything until now." Nina said. You could feel the pressure in her voice.

"You know for someone who used to love me so much, I don't understand why you wouldn't want me in Vanessa's life." Lance said.

"Damn Lance, you are so fucking rude." Nina shouted.

"Whoa guys, calm down." Tiffany said quietly.

"Yeah guys." I agreed with her. This whole thing with Nina and Lance was getting old. The two could never have a civil conversation.

"I'm sorry, but to me Lance I figure if you want Vanessa in your life then we both need to work together to make sure she is." Nina said calmly.

"Lance, we love you and last thing Nina and I want is to not have you or JC in Vanessa's life." Joey said.

"This isn't about Vanessa." Lance said

"Then what is it about Lance?" Nina questioned.

"It's about you and I." Lance said silently.

"Lance, there is no more you and I." Nina said. An uncomfortable grunt came from JC's direction. You could tell that what Lance had just said shot an arrow right through JC's heart.

"That's the problem, we’re not even friends anymore. I mean, I’m surprised you didn't keep me in the closet about you and Joey." Lance said. I snickered a little at Lance's choice of words but my laughter soon ended by Tiffany's hand in my stomach.

"I think maybe you two should talk more and not worry about you previous relationship." Tiffany spoke up.

"Yeah, and Joey and I will do good about you two hanging out." JC chimmed in.

"Well I'm glad that's settled, we did good honey." I stretched as Tiffany gave me that “you didn't do shit” look.

Amy continued to put the groceries on the register. Her eyes wondered through the magazines at the check out stand. Her eye quickly caught something; picture of her fiancé and Tiffany, mouth to mouth. Rage came over her emotions and she threw the magazine down with the rest of her things. She didn't know what to do or say. She didn't know if she should jump on Chris about it or just ask. Tears began to sting the edges of her eyes so she rolled her eyes back and let the tears fall down her face.

"Are you alright ma'am?" The young woman at the front counter asked.

"Yes, thank you." Amy said as she grabbed her bags and left. For years and years she had tried desperately to try and keep Tiffany out of Chris's love life. She thought she did once Chris proposed and now that she knew he still loved Tiffany, there was no room in his heart for her.

The next morning

"Joey, I really do love you," JC said, "But you are beginning to be a pain in my ass."

"No, that's Lance's job Jace." Joey laughed.

"Alright, I have no problem watching Vanessa." JC said as he flipped through the channels finally resting on Tiffany's concert special.

"Thanks man you saved my ass." Joey said.

"Yep." JC said as he caught glimpse of Lance walking through the door, "Well I'll let you go, the other half just got home."

"Okay, see ya." Joey said then hung up the phone.

"Honey, I'm home." Lance said as he entered the room.

"I missed you." JC said pressing his lips with Lance's.

"I'm sure you did." Lance laughed.

"Where have you been all morning?" JC asked.

"I went to work for like an hour, then I did something I should have done a long time ago." Lance said.

"Um, alright." JC laughed in confusion.

"Come with me." Lance smiled as he pulled JC off the couch.

Lance lead JC to the front door then stopped him, "Close your eyes," JC did as told and Lance took JC outside.

"Open"

JC opened to see a plane above and the words 'WILL YOU MARRY ME JOSHUA SCOTT CHASEZ' were printed on a banner that followed behind. A smile spread across JC's glowing face.

"Yes"

**

"Who was that?" I asked.

"JC." Tiffany answered as she continued to put clothing in her bags.

"What did he have to say?" I asked.

"When we go to Vegas, Lance will be joining us." Tiffany smiled.

"Okay, so why did he have to call for that?" I'm nosey, I know.

"Damn Justin," Tiffany laughed, "Lance popped the question."

"You're kidding me." I nearly dropped Joshua when she said that.

"Nope." She smiled with that 'see, I told ya so, I told you my plan ALWAYS works' smile.

"Tiffany, did I ever tell you how amazing and smart you are?" I winked. I've told her that so many times, it's got me in the sack every time.

"Is Joshua asleep?" It was an unspoken thing with her and I. Every time I said that, she knew.

"Uh huh, and Alexis wont be back for another hour." I smiled slyly.

"Well, what the hell are you waiting for?" She said softly, "Go put Joshua to bed, and I'll wait in here for you."

"In just a thong?" I rose my eye brows. Uh huh, I'm a pervert.

"Whatever you want baby." Tiffany said.

"Cool."
