LEAGUE INFO…

Recap…
Tuesday, July 14th was the eleventh week of the Duffer’s 2009 season. Round two of the Match Play Tournament ended with all matches being played.  Last nights weather was perfect with pleasant 75-degree temperatures and clear sunny skies.  The perfect weather lead to a busy Duffer evening with 51 of 56 members (91%) and 4 guests making their way around the back nine.  Member attendance for the year remains an acceptable 91%, while total attendance, including guests and make-up rounds is a very good 97%.

Thanks to Wayne Reisinger, who was a BIG WINNER at FunNite #2, for the buckets-o-beers after yesterday’s round.  Drink up guys!

MAKE-UP ROUNDS reported for last week…

none

due to FunNite #2 ‘3-club’ format

MEMBERS WHO MISSED Wk#11 were…

Tom Dickson

Dan Keller

Pat Lima

John Parker (apparently quit - pussy)

Rob Sibley (broken wrist)

REMEMBER
, you have one week to play your make-up round.  You must play the same side that the league was originally scheduled to play.  Turn your scorecards in to a Creekwood Clubhouse Counter Staff Member, asking them to place it in the Duffer File, or give it to Stanny on Tuesday.

With ~55 members + guests and the NASA league ahead of us; the Duffers MUST play READY GOLF!

Ready Golf means BEING READY to play, not playing when you're ready. Here are some simple hints.

More Ready Golf information can be found by clicking here.

Let’s try to have our first group on the tee box by 4:15, right behind the NASA group.

Yesterday’s Pace of play was very good at the front of the pack.  Our first group {Bob King, Bill Lilley, Alex Martinez, and Norm Dickson (guest)} got around the back nine in a remarkable 2:01.  Unfortunately our last group (Mickey Lima and Jack Tabor) didn’t fare quite as well.  The SIX matches that were being playing ahead of them might have had something to do with the slower than desired pace of play.  Daylight is starting to slip away from us.  We are losing about five minutes of daylight each week and in just a few weeks we will once again be struggling to finish before dark.  Please allow our “back-of-the-pack players” to finish before sunset by playing ready golf and playing quickly.

Just remember that ‘your proper position on the golf course is behind the group in front of you, NOT in front of the group behind you!’

Help Needed…
Paul Chichester has a friend whose son has been fighting leukemia for the past year.  Last year, to help out with medical costs, Paul and his friends put together a FUNDRAISING GOLF OUTING that was held at Sweetbriar G.C. in Avon Lake.  This year, the family hopes to “Pay it forward” by helping out other sick kids.  Click here, or speak with Paul Chichester for more information.  Hopefully, “The Duffers” will be able to get a few foursomes together to help out.

09 Match Play Tournament…
Round two of “The Match Play Tournament” ended last night with all six matches being played! Completed match results along with an up-to-date bracket can be observed by checking out the Match Page.  A “hard copy” of the bracket is also posted on the bulletin board outside the clubhouse.

Skin News…
Our Skin Committee members are: Chip Dubosh, Skip Skufca, Mark Sustarsic, Mike Milam, and Todd Cramer.

Their duties are to: ENCOURAGE game participation (Skin & 50/50) by our members, guarantee correct sign-in and tabulation, watch and sort the money, ensure there is no ‘after posting’, assist in score keeping, and help with prize money distribution. If you have any ideas or suggestions about how these games could be run more efficiently please see a committee member or Stanny.

MORON’S CORNER… (Formerly JETHRO CIPHERS)
This is the spot where I will highlight (low light) the SPECIAL skills of Duffers and their simplistic mathematic disabilities.

7+6+5+7+7+6+6+4+6 = 54 not 52 – Chuck Bartsche

47-10 = 37 not 36 – Tom Broadhurst

a friendly REMINDER…
It is each and every member’s personal responsibility to insure that his own score is CORRECTLY and LEGIBLY recorded (both gross and net) on the weekly skin / work sheet.  Even though you may not have been the person keeping score for the foursome, it is your duty to insure that it was done correctly!  Do it right and you won’t end up listed in the “Moron’s Corner”!

LARRY LAHIFF'S SKIN GAMES…
are a great way to   s t r e t c h   the summer holiday weekends and play a round of golf with friends at one of the areas FINEST golf courses.
The remaining date is:

Friday September 4th.

It is also being held at Eagle Creek GC in Norwalk. The first tee time is ~9:30 and everyone is welcome to attend.
See Larry for further details or if you have any questions.
