LEAGUE INFO…

Recap…
Tuesday, July 7th was the tenth week and second FunNite of the Duffer’s 2009 season. Round two of the Match Play Tournament resumes and ends next Tuesday (7/14).  Last nights weather was more seasonal than last week with 75-degree temperatures and clear sunny skies.  Since yesterday’s FunNite format was an irregular format, NO MAKE-UP ROUNDS WILL BE ACCEPTED and missed rounds will not be held against you Final Tournament Eligibility.  Regular Weekly Tournament format will resume next week.  Attendance at FunNites is generally greater than average but last night did not bear that out, we had only 46 of 56 members (82%) and 4 guests trying out the ‘3-club’ tournament and the FunNite spread that followed.  A BIG THANKS goes out to Paul Ebright and the rest of his committee; Tom Broadhurst, Skip Skufca, and Dale Sandvick for a very successful evening!
Member attendance for the year has ticked down again to
91%, while total attendance, including guests and make-up rounds remains 97%.

Yesterday’s Pace of play…
Who really cares at a FunNite “3-club’?

Just remember that ‘your proper position on the golf course is behind the group in front of you, NOT in front of the group behind you!’

Help Needed…
Paul Chichester has a friend whose son has been fighting leukemia for the past year.  Last year, to help out with medical costs, Paul and his friends put together a FUNDRAISING GOLF OUTING that was held at Sweetbriar G.C. in Avon Lake.  This year, the family hopes to “Pay it forward” by helping out other sick kids.  Click here, or speak with Paul Chichester for more information.  Hopefully, “The Duffers” will be able to get a few foursomes together to help out.

09 Match Play Tournament…
Round two of “The Match Play Tournament” ends next week (7/14).  Completed match results along with an up-to-date bracket can be observed by checking out the Match Page.  A “hard copy” is also posted on the bulletin board outside the clubhouse.

Skin News…
Our Skin Committee members are: Chip Dubosh, Skip Skufca, Mark Sustarsic, Mike Milam, and Todd Cramer.

Their duties are to: ENCOURAGE game participation (Skin & 50/50) by our members, guarantee correct sign-in and tabulation, watch and sort the money, ensure there is no ‘after posting’, assist in score keeping, and help with prize money distribution. If you have any ideas or suggestions about how these games could be run more efficiently please see a committee member or Stanny.

Remember, you can’t win if you don’t play!

MORON’S CORNER… (Formerly JETHRO CIPHERS)
This is the spot where I will highlight (low light) the SPECIAL skills of Duffers and their simplistic mathematic disabilities.

5+5+8+4+7+5+3+4+8 = 49 not 50 – Jeff Pennell

a friendly REMINDER…
It is each and every member’s personal responsibility to insure that his own score is CORRECTLY and LEGIBLY recorded (both gross and net) on the weekly skin / work sheet.  Even though you may not have been the person keeping score for the foursome, it is your duty to insure that it was done correctly!  Do it right and you won’t end up listed in the “Moron’s Corner”!

LARRY LAHIFF'S SKIN GAMES…
are a great way to   s t r e t c h   the summer holiday weekends and play a round of golf with friends at one of the areas FINEST golf courses.
The remaining date is:

Friday September 4th.

It is also being held at Eagle Creek GC in Norwalk. The first tee time is ~9:30 and everyone is welcome to attend.
See Larry for further details or if you have any questions.

'Till Tuesday,
