LEAGUE INFO…
Recap…
Tuesday, June 23rd
was the eighth official week of the DUFFERS 2009 season; it was also the
start of the second round of the Match Play Tournament. The weather was typical Cleveland early
summer with 84-degree temperatures and sunny, calm skies. Creekwood G.C. is in excellent condition and
a pleasure to play! KnockDown #2
will be held next week, (6/30), as in all KnockDowns, you must be present
Tuesday to receive any bonus points.
Just show up and play as you would any regular Tuesday and Stanny will
figure out the pairings and results.
Last night we had 50 of 56 members (89%) and 3 guests tee
it up and enjoy a summer evening round of golf.
Member attendance for the year is now 93%, while total attendance, including guests and make-up rounds is a very
good 98%.

REMEMBER, you have one week to play
your make-up round. You must play
the same side that the league was originally scheduled to play.
Turn your scorecards in to a Creekwood Clubhouse Counter Staff Member, asking
them to place it in the Duffer File, or give it to Stanny on Tuesday.
Maintain your Final Tournament Eligibility by having no more than
two absences during the season!
With
~55 members + guests and the NASA league ahead of us; the Duffers
MUST play READY GOLF!
Ready Golf
means BEING READY to play, not playing when you're ready. Here are some simple
hints.

Let’s try to have our
first group on the tee box by 4:15, right behind the NASA group.
Yesterday’s Pace of play was pretty good at the front of the pack. When I saw our first group they were playing a 6-some
yet still keeping up nicely with the NASA group ahead of them! BUT, THE BACK OF THE PACK continues to be
a problem! Paul Ebright and his group
fell a hole and a half behind the group ahead of theirs by the 8th
hole. BAD GOLF IS NO EXCUSE FOR SLOW PLAY!
Just remember that ‘your proper position on the golf course is behind
the group in front of you, NOT
in front of the group behind you!’
Help Needed…
Paul Chichester has a friend whose son has been fighting leukemia for
the past year. Last year, to help out
with medical costs, Paul and his friends put together a FUNDRAISING GOLF
OUTING that was held at Sweetbriar G.C. in Avon Lake. This year, the family hopes to “Pay it
forward” by helping out other sick kids.
or speak with Paul Chichester for more information. Hopefully, “The Duffers” will be able to get a few foursomes
together to help out.
’09 Match
Play Tournament…
Round two
of “The Match Play Tournament” started last night but no matches were played. Just two more evenings left to play Round
two, it ends (7/14). Completed match
results along with an up-to-date bracket can be observed by checking out the Match Page. A “hard copy” is also posted on the
bulletin board outside the clubhouse.
’09 Scheduled Events…
Here are the
tentative dates (weather permitting) for this year’s Duffer Events. Due to our late start this spring; some
dates were changed.

Final Outing…
The Final Outing

we will be enjoying a rib roast with chicken and all the trimmings, catered by
Lone Tree Tavern.
Skin News…
Our Skin Committee members are: Chip Dubosh, Skip Skufca,
Mark Sustarsic, Mike Milam, and Todd Cramer.
Their
duties are to: ENCOURAGE game participation (Skin & 50/50) by
our members, guarantee correct sign-in and tabulation, watch and sort
the money, ensure there is no ‘after posting’, assist in score
keeping, and help with prize money distribution. If you have any ideas or suggestions about
how these games could be run more efficiently please see a committee member
or Stanny.
Remember,
you can’t win if you don’t play!

MORON’S CORNER…
(Formerly
JETHRO CIPHERS)
This is the spot where
I will highlight (low light) the SPECIAL skills of Duffers and
their simplistic mathematic disabilities.
5+8+9+7+9+8+4+6+6 = 62 not 61 – Dan Keller
7+6+5+4+10+8+2+6+7 = 55 not 56 – Scott Pennell
40-5 = 35 not 39 – Mike Milam
a friendly REMINDER…
It is each and every member’s personal responsibility to
insure that his own score is CORRECTLY and LEGIBLY recorded (both
gross and net) on the weekly skin / work sheet. Even though you may not have been the person
keeping score for the foursome, it is your duty to insure that it was done
correctly! Do it right and you won’t
end up listed in the “Moron’s Corner”!
LARRY LAHIFF'S SKIN

to s t r e t c h the summer holiday weekends and play a
