LEAGUE INFO…
Recap…
Tuesday, May 12th
was the second official week of the DUFFERS 2009 season. The weather gods smiled again and “The
Duffers” were able to get around the front-nine will no problems. The weather was cooler than we would have
liked but with sunny blue skies, little or no breeze, and 65-degree
temperatures, it was a far cry from what we tried to endure last month. Attendance was disappointing for such a
pleasant evening with only 48 of 59 members (81%) and 4 guests
making their way to the tee box. Former members Tom Reiss, Randy
Dudinsky, and Adam Leonard were among the guests playing
yesterday. It’s always good to see
former members out and around the old Creekwood!
Member attendance for the year is 87%, while total attendance, including
guests and make-up rounds is 94%.
Rules Reminder…
A little
known and seldom used Duffer rule came to mind yesterday during a discussion
with a member. That rule being;
after hitting TWO balls into a hazard, a player may elect to drop his ball
across the hazard that he has been attempting to clear. Of course, the player still incurs two
penalty strokes.

REMEMBER, you have one week to play
your make-up round. You must play
the same side that the league was originally scheduled to play. Turn your scorecards in to a Creekwood
Clubhouse Counter Staff Member, asking them to place it in the Duffer File, or
give it to Stanny on Tuesday.
Also:
Even though no points are awarded to members whose dues are not paid-in-full,
your make-up rounds are eligible for handicap and attendance purposes. Maintain your Final Tournament
Eligibility by having no more than two absences during the season!

Get your dues paid and enjoy
all the benefits of Duffer Membership… entry into the Skins, AND the WEEKLY
POINTS you should have earned!
With 60 members + guests and the NASA league ahead of us, the
Duffers MUST play READY GOLF!
Ready Golf means BEING READY to play, not playing when you're ready.
Here are some simple hints.
More Ready Golf information can be found by clicking here.

Let’s try to have our
first group on the tee box by 4:15, right behind the NASA group.
Yesterday’s Pace of play was very good! Thanks to
everyone who worked at playing READY golf and getting the Duffers around the
course at a much improved pace. The last
group was delayed because of a group of non-member; open play golfers who were
playing ahead of them. That open-play
group caused a bit of confusion when the pin shot markers were removed before
the final Duffer group had their chance at pin shots. Please make sure you are the LAST GROUP before you pick up the
pin shot markers. Once again GOOD JOB and let’s keep working on keeping up!
Just remember that ‘your proper position on the golf course is behind
the group in front of you, NOT
in front of the group behind you!’
No Gimmies…
ALL PUTTS
MUST BE HOLED OUT AT ALL DUFFER EVENTS.
Any member who accepts a GIMMIE is potentially taking points away from other
members and is deemed to be cheating.
Chip Dubosh will be glad to discuss this issue with anyone who doesn’t quite
understand the rule.
’09 Match
Play Tournament…
Round one
of “The Match Play Tournament” started Tuesday but to my knowledge, there were no
matches played. Round One will end
June 16th. To those of you
who are interested, baring any additional rainouts, handicaps will be adjusted
after the completion of Wk#03 (May 19th).
FYI… as a result of the poor weather experienced in April, some of the original
dates have been changed. Parings and
Tournament details are available at the Duffers’ website and posted on
the bulletin board outside the clubhouse.
’09
Scheduled Events…
Here are the
tentative dates (weather permitting) for this year’s Duffer Events. Due to our late start this spring; some

KnockDowns…
Are scheduled for: May 26th (front 9), June 30th
(back 9), August 4th (front 9), and Sept. 8th
(back 9).
Final Outing…
The Final Outing
is being held Saturday, Sept. 12th, 9:00, at Creekwood Golf
Course. Mark your calendars
now!
FYI,
we will be enjoying a rib roast with chicken and all the trimmings, catered by
Lone Tree Tavern.
Skin News…
Our Skin Committee members are: Chip Dubosh, Skip Skufca, Mark
Sustarsic, Mike Milam, and Todd Cramer.
Their
duties are to: ENCOURAGE game participation (Skin & 50/50) by
our members, guarantee correct sign-in and tabulation, watch and sort
the money, ensure there is no ‘after posting’, assist in score
keeping, and help with prize money distribution.
50/50
raffle…
This new
venture was instituted in an attempt to increase the Duffer Prize Pool without
raising our Duffer Dues. As the name
suggests, 50% of the prize pool will go to the winning Duffer member each week
and 50% will go to the general fund.
Entry into this game is as easy as the Skin Game, just place $1 in Skin
Box and ‘X’ off the number next to your name in the 50/50 column. Skip Skufca will draw the winning number
each Tuesday after the completion of his round. Like the Skin Game, winners who leave Creekwood early and are not
present to collect their winnings will have their names highlighted in yellow on the Skin/Work Sheet
and their winnings will be placed in the Skin box on the next Tuesday.
Reminder to all
Skin and/or 50/50 Players…
The Skin
Game is open to all dues paid MEMBERS (no guests), The 50/50 is open to
everyone. Game entry (payment and entry
indication) must be made prior to teeing off. Posting and/or paying after your round is completed,
is not permitted.
Your participation in
these extracurricular games is voluntary yet robustly encouraged! Please join the majority of your fellow
Duffers in the enjoyment and competition of these games. It will add to your Duffer experience and it
might add a few extra dollars to your pocket.
Remember, you
can’t win if you don’t play!
If you have any
ideas or suggestions about how these games could be run more efficiently please
see a committee member or Stanny.
SKIN
RESULTS for Wk#02…
we had 39 out
of the 48 players only 81% L in the game for a pot of $190
those not playing were…
Chuck Bartsche – but did play 50/50
Wayne Cerney – didn’t play
50/50 either
Donny Griffith – but did play 50/50
Pat Lima – ineligible (pre-play)
Alex Martinez – but did play
50/50
Glenn McLaughlin – didn’t play 50/50 either
Don Schofield Sr. – but did play 50/50
Eric Sfiligoj – didn’t play 50/50 either
– new guy ?!?
Jack Tabor – but did play 50/50
Please take extra care to mark out the games you are playing
correctly. It appears that some players
are not marking their entry in both games even though they may have placed
their $6 in the Skin Box. Remember,
if you are not “X”ed out when you leave the tee box, you’re not in the game.
Hey guys…
it’s just like the lotto, ‘you can’t win if you
don’t PLAY!

Tradition
dictates that they buy you a drink, or be heckled miserably!
NOTE… PLEASE DON’T
PREMATURELY CIRCLE YOUR BIRDIES ON THE SKIN SHEET! It’s a pretty television graphic presentation BUT it makes it
VERY DIFFICULT to see the TRUE SKINS!
MORON’S
CORNER… (Formerly JETHRO
CIPHERS)
This is the spot where
I will highlight (low light) the SPECIAL skills of Duffers and
their simplistic mathematic disabilities.
9+5+3+3+8+5+6+6+7 = 52 not 51 – Chuck Bartsche
a friendly REMINDER…
It is each and every member’s personal responsibility to
insure that his own score is CORRECTLY recorded (both gross and net)
on the weekly skin / work sheet. Even
though you may not have been the person keeping score for the foursome, it is
your duty to insure that it was done correctly! Do it right and you won’t end up listed in the “Moron’s
Corner”!
