LEAGUE INFO…
Recap…
Tuesday, May 5th was FINALLY the first official week of the
DUFFERS 2009 season. After having FOUR
weeks in a row, CANCELLED due to bad weather, The Duffers were granted a
reprieve from the weather gods long enough to get our first official week of play
completed. WOW, it feels good to get
the season under way! Creekwood was in
very nice shape and the greens were hard and FAST. Attendance was pretty good but lighter than
expected considering the awful weather we’ve had to endure these last four Tuesdays. We had 52 of 62 members (84%) and 2
guests make their way to the tee box. Member attendance for the year is
84%, while total attendance, including guests and make-up rounds is 87%.

REMEMBER, you have one week to play your make-up round. You must play the same side
that the league was originally scheduled to play. Turn your scorecards in to a Creekwood Clubhouse Counter Staff
Member, asking them to place it in the Duffer File, or give it to Stanny on
Tuesday.
Also:
Even though no points are awarded to members whose dues are not paid-in-full,
your make-up rounds are eligible for handicap and attendance purposes. Maintain your Final Tournament
Eligibility by having no more than two absences during the season!

Get your
dues paid and enjoy all the benefits of Duffer Membership… entry into the
Skins, AND the WEEKLY POINTS you should have earned!
With over 60 members + guests and the NASA league ahead of
us, the Duffers MUST play READY GOLF!
Be ready to hit when it’s your turn.
Plan in advance; think about your up-coming shot while you’re
approaching the ball and go ahead and hit it if there is no one else in the
vicinity, regardless of who has honors.
If you are not in another player’s way, line up your putt while
another player is hitting his. Regardless
of the ‘beer girl’ not everyone in the foursome needs to hang around
the beer cart when she is present, someone should be hitting the ball while
others are buying the beer.
Please recognize that ‘your proper position on the
golf course is behind the group in front of you, NOT in front of the group
behind you!’

well after sunset, DARK!
Let’s try to have our first group on the tee box by 4:15, right
behind the NASA group.
Yesterday’s pace of play was about average for the Duffers at this time of
year. That was the case until
the stragglers at the back of the pack drifted in.
Our 4th
last group (49, 53, 49, 57) finished ONE hole behind the group ahead of them,
and the 3rd last group (62, 60, 46, 46) was a deplorable TWO
holes behind the group ahead of them!
Our last two groups were in position, behind the groups ahead of them,
but that was of little consequence when they walked of the 18th
green at 9:00 in TOTAL DARKNESS!
Please remember that ‘your
proper position on the golf course is behind the group in front of you, NOT in front of the group
behind you!’
No
Gimmies…
ALL PUTTS MUST BE HOLED OUT AT ALL DUFFER EVENTS.
Any member who accepts a GIMMIE is potentially taking points away from other
members and is deemed to be cheating.
Chip Dubosh will be glad to discuss this issue with anyone who doesn’t quite
understand the rule.
The ’09 Match Play

Final Outing…
The Final Outing is being held Saturday, Sept. 12th,
9:00, at Creekwood Golf Course. Mark
your calendars now!
FYI, we will be enjoying a rib roast with chicken and all
the trimmings, catered by Lone Tree Tavern.
Skin News…
Our Skin Committee members are: Chip
Dubosh, Skip
Skufca, Mark Sustarsic, Mike Milam, and Todd Cramer.
Their
duties are to: ENCOURAGE game participation (Skin & 50/50) by
our members, guarantee correct sign-in and tabulation, watch and sort
the money, ensure there is no ‘after posting’, assist in score
keeping, and help with prize money distribution.
50/50
raffle…
This new venture was instituted in an attempt to increase the Duffer
Prize Pool without raising our Duffer Dues.
As the name suggests, 50% of the prize pool will go to the winning
Duffer member each week and 50% will go to the general fund. Entry into this game is as easy as the Skin
Game, just place $1 in Skin Box and ‘X’ off the number next to your name in the
50/50 column. Skip Skufca will draw the
winning number each Tuesday after the completion of his round. Like the Skin Game, winners who leave
Creekwood early and are not present to collect their winnings will have their names highlighted in yellow on
the Skin/Work Sheet and their winnings will be placed in the Skin box on
the next Tuesday.
Reminder to all
Skin and/or 50/50 Players…
The Skin Game is open to all dues paid MEMBERS (no guests), The
50/50 is open to everyone. Game entry
(payment and entry indication) must be made prior to teeing
off. Posting and/or paying after
your round is completed, is not permitted.
Your participation in these extracurricular games is voluntary yet robustly
encouraged! Please join the majority
of your fellow Duffers in the enjoyment and competition of these games. It will add to your Duffer experience and it
might add a few extra dollars to your pocket.
Remember, you
can’t win if you don’t play!
If you have any ideas or suggestions about how these games could be run
more efficiently please see a committee member or Stanny.

Tradition
dictates that they buy you a drink, or be heckled miserably!
NOTE… PLEASE DON’T PREMATURELY CIRCLE YOUR BIRDIES ON THE SKIN SHEET! It’s a pretty television graphic
presentation BUT it makes it VERY DIFFICULT to see the TRUE SKINS!
MORON’S
CORNER… (Formerly JETHRO CIPHERS)
This is the spot where I will highlight (low light) the SPECIAL
skills of Duffers and their simplistic mathematic disabilities.
5+7+4+6+6+6+8+3+4 = 49 not 50 – Chip Dubosh
5+5+4+7+5+7+7+4+5 = 49 not 48 – Bill Lilley
52-7 = 45 not blank – Mark Hodgson
52-0 = 52 not blank – Chuck Bartsche
37-0 = 37 not blank – John Parker
a friendly
REMINDER…
It is each and every
member’s personal responsibility to insure that his own score is CORRECTLY
recorded (both gross and net) on the weekly skin / work
sheet. Even
though you may not have been the person keeping score for the foursome, it is
your duty to insure that it was done correctly! Do it
right and you won’t end up listed in the “Moron’s Corner”!
