LEAGUE INFO…

Recap…
Tuesday, August 26th was the 19th official week of the DUFFERS 2008 season.  The weather was warm, sunny, pleasant, and PERFECT.  The semi-final round of the Match Tournament was finished setting up a Final Round match-up between League President, Jack Tabor and Mike Kennedy.  Attendance last night was very good, considering the lateness of the season, with 47 (1 pre-play) of 50 members (94%) and 7 guests making their way around the back nine.  Member attendance for the year has ticked up to 93%, while total attendance, including guests and make-up rounds has improved to an unbelievable 102%!

REMEMBER
, you have one week to play your make-up round.  You must play the same side that the league was originally scheduled to play.  Turn your scorecards in to a Creekwood Clubhouse Counter Staff Member, asking them to place it in the Duffer File, or give it to Stanny on Tuesday.

Play READY GOLF!
your proper position on the golf course is behind the group in front of you, NOT in front of the group behind you!’

Keep up with the group in front of you.  The back-o-the pack should be able to make it around in just a few more minutes than the first group!

With summer slipping away and this years Duffer season moving toward its end, daylight is once again an issue.  Each week we are losing approximately 12 minutes of precious daylight.  Yesterday’s sunset was at 8:10, and next weeks sunset will be at 7:58.
Give your fellow Duffers at the back-o-the pack a break and make EVERY effort to get around the course as fast as you can!

’08 Match Play Tournament
Round #5 starts next week with Jack Tabor and Mike Kennedy in the FINAL Round.  Good luck to both our finalists and thanks to everyone who participated in this year’s Match Play Tournament.  Hopefully, the tourney will run again next year.

Consolation bracket…
With only THREE weeks of regular season play remaining, I want to remind those of you who are in the ‘Consolation Tournament’ that you can get back into the ‘Championship Tournament’ by winning one of the remaining regular play WEEKLY TOURNAMENTS!  The POINTS tournament is becoming quite a horse race with a handful of players within reach of the Points Championship. I should remind you that there is still one KnockDown Tournament remaining and we pay off three places in the Points Tournament, so please make every effort to get to Creekwood and play yourselves either into the money or out of the ‘Consolation Tournament’!

Remaining ’08 Scheduled Events

KnockDowns…
The last KnockDown is Sept. 16th (front 9).

Final Outing…
The Final Outing is being held Saturday, Sept. 20th, 9:00, at Creekwood Golf Course.  Mark your calendars now!

FYI, we will be enjoying a steak roast with all the trimmings, catered by Alexander’s.

Skin News…
Our Skin Committee members are:
Mark Roth, Todd Cramer, Josh ‘Pronk’ Bunevich, Mike Milam, and Chip Dubosh.

Their duties are to: ENCOURAGE participation, ensure correct sign-in and tabulation, watch and sort the money, ensure there is no ‘after posting’, assist in score keeping, and help with prize money distribution.
If you have any suggestions or ideas about how the Skin Game can be run more efficiently speak with a committee member, or Stanny

Hey guys (girls)… it’s just like the lotto, ‘you can’t win if you don’t PLAY!

Tuesdays Winners were…

Low Net (29) – Alan Bass – $40
Pin #12 – Rick Lear – $40
Pin #17 – Todd Cramer – $40

One Skin was out @ $80…
#13 – birdie – Pete Cloherty

Tradition dictates that they buy you a drink, or be heckled miserably!

NOTE… PLEASE DON’T PREMATURELY CIRCLE YOUR BIRDIES ON THE SKIN SHEET!  It’s a pretty television graphic presentation BUT it makes it VERY DIFFICULT to see the TRUE SKINS!

MORON’S CORNER… (Formerly JETHRO CIPHERS)
This is the spot where I will highlight (low light) the SPECIAL skills of Duffers and their simplistic mathematic disabilities.

5+6+4+6+5+8+4+4+5 = 47 not 46 – Jason Bundrant
6+7+6+9+5+5+4+5+5 = 52 not 53 – Mark Clark
6+7+5+7+8+7+7+5+4 = 56 not 51 – Alex Martinez

38-5 = 33 not 32 – Paul Chichester

a friendly REMINDER…
It is each and every member’s personal responsibility to insure that his own score is CORRECTLY recorded (both gross and net) on the weekly skin / work sheet.  Even though you may not have been the person keeping score for the foursome, it is your duty to insure that it was done correctly!  Do it right and you won’t end up listed in the “Moron’s Corner”!

LARRY LAHIFF'S SKIN GAMES…
are a great way to   s t r e t c h   the summer holiday weekends and play a round of golf with friends at one of the areas FINEST golf courses.

This year’s remaining date is Friday, August 29th at Eagle Creek GC in Norwalk. The first tee time is ~9:30 and everyone is welcome to attend.
See Larry for further details or if you have any questions.

'Till Tuesday,
