LEAGUE INFO…

Recap…
Tuesday, July 22nd was the 14th official week of the DUFFERS 2008 season.  The weather again was typical Cleveland end-o-July with mostly sunny skies and mid 80-degree temperatures not to mention a 15-minute rainstorm at about 4:30.  Round #3 of the Match Play Tournament was in its’ second of three weeks with two matches played.  Attendance, considering the tee-time rain, was very good with 46 of 50 members (92%) and 6 guests making their way around the front-nine.  Member attendance for the year remains 92%, while total attendance, including guests and make-up rounds is back up to an incredible 101%!

MEMBERS WHO MISSED
Wk #14 were…

Alex Martinez

REMEMBER
, you have one week to play your make-up round.  You must play the same side that the league was originally scheduled to play.  Turn your scorecards in to a Creekwood Clubhouse Counter Staff Member, asking them to place it in the Duffer File, or give it to Stanny on Tuesday.

With 50 members and the NASA league ahead of us, the Duffers MUST play READY GOLF!
Be ready to hit when it’s your turn
.  Plan in advance; think about your up-coming shot while you’re approaching the ball and go ahead and hit it if there is no one else in the vicinity, regardless of who has honors.  If you are not in another player’s way, line up your putt while another player is hitting his.  Regardless of the ‘beer girl’ not everyone in the foursome needs to hang around the beer cart when she is present, someone should be hitting the ball while others are buying the beer.  Please recognize that your proper position on the golf course is behind the group in front of you, NOT in front of the group behind you!’

SKIN Results for Wk #14…
we had 40 out of the 46 players (87%) in the game for a pot of  $195
those not playing were…
Rich Began – birdied holes 1,2, and 4, leads the Points Tourney  – and he still hasn’t figured out that he should be “in the game”!
Ted Dieterich
Donny Griffith
Bob King
Jim Martin
Rob Sibley –
Rob wasn’t really all there Tuesday, see morons corner
Hey guys… it’s just like the lotto, ‘you can’t win if you don’t PLAY!

Tuesdays Winners were…

Low Net (29) – Mark Hodgson – $39 – won his way back into the Championship Tournament after missing three weeks!
Pin #4 – Dave Haeberlie – $39
Pin #7 – Mickey Lima – $39

Five Skins were out @ $15 each…
#1 – birdie – Mike Kennedy (thanx Rich)
#3 – birdie – Ron Cross – (13 handicapper)
#7 – birdie – Mickey Lima
#8 – birdie – Mark Roth
#9 – eagle – Scott Roth – think there’s any competition between these two brothers?
Tradition dictates that they buy you a drink, or be heckled miserably!

NOTE… PLEASE DON’T PREMATURELY CIRCLE YOUR BIRDIES ON THE SKIN SHEET!  It’s a pretty television graphic presentation BUT it makes it VERY DIFFICULT to see the TRUE SKINS!

Reminder to all Skin Players…
This Year’s Skin Game is open to all dues paid MEMBERS (no guests).  Game entry (payment and entry indication) must be made prior to teeing off.
Posting and/or paying after your round is completed, is not permitted.

MORON’S CORNER… (Formerly JETHRO CIPHERS)
This is the spot where I will highlight (low light) the SPECIAL skills of Duffers and their simplistic mathematic disabilities.

7+5+7+3+5+6+4+6+7 = 50 not 49 – Jason Bundrant
5+6+5+4+5+6+3+5+5 = 44 not 45 – Rob Sibley

a friendly REMINDER…

It is each and every member’s personal responsibility to insure that his own score is CORRECTLY recorded (both gross and net) on the weekly skin / work sheet.  Even though you may not have been the person keeping score for the foursome, it is your duty to insure that it was done correctly!  Do it right and you won’t end up listed in the “Moron’s Corner”!

LARRY LAHIFF'S SKIN GAMES…
are a great way to   s t r e t c h   the summer holiday weekends and play a round of golf with friends at one of the areas FINEST golf courses.

This year’s remaining date is Friday, August 29th at Eagle Creek GC in Norwalk. The first tee time is ~9:30 and everyone is welcome to attend.
See Larry for further details or if you have any questions.

'Till Tuesday,
