LEAGUE INFO…

Recap…
Tuesday, July 1st was the 12th official week and second FunNite of the DUFFERS 2008 season.  The weather was close to perfect with mostly sunny skies and near 77-degree temperatures.  Thanks to Pete White, Todd Cramer, and Alex Martinez for their efforts putting on last-nights event!  KnockDown #2 will be played nest Tuesday, July 8th.  As at most FunNites, attendance last night was better than average with 46 of 50 members (92%) and 7 guests scrambling and “duffing” their way around the back nine.  Member attendance for the year has notched-up 93%, while total attendance, including guests and make-up rounds is now an amazing 101%!

MAKE-UP ROUNDS
reported for last week…

Mark Roth

Mark Sustarsic

MEMBERS WHO MISSED
Wk #11 (FunNite #2) were…

Jason Bundrant

Wayne Cerney

Ron Cross

J.Z.

Because Tuesday’s activities were a special format, no make-up rounds will be accepted and if you missed last night, it will NOT be held against your attendance record.

With 50 members and the NASA league ahead of us, the Duffers MUST play READY GOLF!
Be ready to hit when it’s your turn
.  Plan in advance; think about your up-coming shot while you’re approaching the ball and go ahead and hit it if there is no one else in the vicinity, regardless of who has honors.  If you are not in another player’s way, line up your putt while another player is hitting his.  Regardless of the ‘beer girl’ not everyone in the foursome needs to hang around the beer cart when she is present, someone should be hitting the ball while others are buying the beer.  Please recognize that your proper position on the golf course is behind the group in front of you, NOT in front of the group behind you!’

With yesterdays Scramble format it doesn’t really matter all that much, and NASA still sucks!!!

Help Needed…
Paul Chichester has a friend whose son has been diagnosed with leukemia.  To help out with medical costs, Paul has put together a FUNDRAISING GOLF OUTING to be held at Sweetbriar G.C. in Avon Lake on August 2nd at 11:30.  Click here, or check out the Duffers home page, or see Paul Chichester for more information.  Hopefully, “The Duffers” will be able to get a few foursomes together to help out.

’08 Match Play Tournament
Round #2 continued last Tuesday night (6/24) with 7 matches being played.  There was one matched played last night because of personal vacation issues.  That brings round two of the Match Play Tournament to a close one-week ahead of schedule.  We might as well get round three going next week so if you’re still in the tournament, you now have four weeks to get round three completed.

Remaining ’08 Scheduled Events
Here are the tentative dates (weather permitting) for this year’s Duffer Events.

Hey guys… it’s just like the lotto, ‘you can’t win if you don’t PLAY!

Tuesdays FunNite Winners are…
available at the website…

Tradition dictates that they buy you a drink, or be heckled miserably!

NOTE… PLEASE DON’T PREMATURELY CIRCLE YOUR BIRDIES ON THE SKIN SHEET!  It’s a pretty television graphic presentation BUT it makes it VERY DIFFICULT to see the TRUE SKINS!

Reminder to all Skin Players…
This Year’s Skin Game is open to all dues paid MEMBERS (no guests).  Game entry (payment and entry indication) must be made prior to teeing off.
Posting and/or paying after your round is completed, is not permitted.

MORON’S CORNER… (Formerly JETHRO CIPHERS)
This is the spot where I will highlight (low light) the SPECIAL skills of Duffers and their simplistic mathematic disabilities.

Bob King gets honorable mention.

a friendly REMINDER…

It is each and every member’s personal responsibility to insure that his own score is CORRECTLY recorded (both gross and net) on the weekly skin / work sheet.  Even though you may not have been the person keeping score for the foursome, it is your duty to insure that it was done correctly!  Do it right and you won’t end up listed in the “Moron’s Corner”!

LARRY LAHIFF'S SKIN GAMES…
are a great way to   s t r e t c h   the summer holiday weekends and play a round of golf with friends at one of the areas FINEST golf courses.

This year’s remaining date is Friday, August 29th at Eagle Creek GC in Norwalk. The first tee time is ~9:30 and everyone is welcome to attend.
See Larry for further details or if you have any questions.

'Till Tuesday,
