LEAGUE INFO…

Recap…
Tuesday, May 20th was the sixth, official week and first FunNite of the DUFFERS 2008 season.  The weather was cool but very playable with mostly sunny skies and near 60-degree temperatures.  Creekwood was in the best condition of the year.  It’s nice to feel the greens starting to firm up and have the putts running a little bit faster.

Please take a moment to thank Chris Pizzuli and Glenn McLaughlin for their efforts putting together last nights FunNites activities.  The food was tasty and plentiful.  It’s a lot of work that generally goes unappreciated so please thank them personally next time you see them.

Two more MATCHES were played last night.  That brings the total number of matches played to 6 out of the first round scheduled 16.  It’s time to finalize your playing arrangements with your opponent.  Contact and pairing information is available on the web site and the Creekwood patio bulletin board.  GOOD LUCK to those who have elected to participate!!

Attendance at FunNites is usually better than average and last night was no exception.  We had 47 of 50 members (94%) and 4 guests show up for the festivities. Since there was no special format last night, those who missed yesterdays round will have the usual 1-week to play their make-up round.
Member attendance for the year remains a very good 92%, while total attendance, including guests and make-up rounds is an outstanding 99%.

Our first group was able to make-up almost 2 open holes in front of them when they teed off and then had to wait on the last few tee boxes as the NASA group played rather slowly.

With 50 members and the NASA league ahead of us, the Duffers MUST play READY GOLF!
Be ready to hit when it’s your turn
.  Plan in advance; think about your up-coming shot while you’re approaching the ball and go ahead and hit it if there is no one else in the vicinity, regardless of who has honors.  If you are not in another player’s way, line up your putt while another player is hitting his.  Regardless of the ‘beer girl’ not everyone in the foursome needs to hang around the beer cart when she is present, someone should be hitting the ball while others are buying the beer.  Please recognize that your proper position on the golf course is behind the group in front of you, NOT in front of the group behind you!’

MEMBERS WHO MISSED
Wk #6 were…

Todd Cramer

Maintain your Final Tournament Eligibility by having no more than two absences during the season!

REMEMBER
, you have one week to play your make-up round.  You must play the same side that the league was originally scheduled to play.  Turn your scorecards in to a Creekwood Clubhouse Counter Staff Member, asking them to place it in the Duffer File, or give it to Stanny on Tuesday.

No Gimmies
ALL PUTTS MUST BE HOLED OUT AT ALL DUFFER EVENTS.
Any member who accepts a GIMMIE is potentially taking points away from other members and is deemed to be cheating.
Chip Dubosh will be glad to discuss this issue with anyone who doesn’t quite understand the rule.

’08 Match Play Tournament 3 WEEKS REMAIN in round #1…
Results can be monitored from the home page.  Contact your opponent and decide when you want to get your MATCH played.  You have until June 10th to get this first round played.
Some things to consider: The Creekwood greens will be aerated and top-dressed in the next few weeks; do you want to play your Match in those conditions?  If you are waiting for your opponents handicap to go down before you play, it is possible for it to rise at almost any time.

Tradition dictates that they buy you a drink, or be heckled miserably!

NOTE… PLEASE DON’T PREMATURELY CIRCLE YOUR BIRDIES ON THE SKIN SHEET!  It’s a pretty television graphic presentation BUT it makes it VERY DIFFICULT to see the TRUE SKINS!

Reminder to all Skin Players…
This Year’s Skin Game is open to all dues paid MEMBERS (no guests).  Game entry (payment and entry indication) must be made prior to teeing off.
Posting and/or paying after your round is completed, is not permitted.

MORON’S CORNER… (Formerly JETHRO CIPHERS)
This is the spot where I will highlight (low light) the SPECIAL skills of Duffers and their simplistic mathematic disabilities.

6+6+3+4+5+5+5+5+4 = 43 not 44 – ‘Pronk’ Bunevich

a friendly REMINDER…

It is each and every member’s personal responsibility to insure that his own score is CORRECTLY recorded (both gross and net) on the weekly skin / work sheet.  Even though you may not have been the person keeping score for the foursome, it is your duty to insure that it was done correctly!  Do it right and you won’t end up listed in the “Moron’s Corner”!

LARRY LAHIFF'S SKIN GAMES…

Again this year, both events will be held at Eagle Creek GC in Norwalk. The first tee time is ~9:30 and everyone is welcome to attend.
