LEAGUE INFO…

Recap…
Tuesday, May 6th was the forth, official week of the DUFFERS 2008 season.  The weather was beautiful with sunny skies and 72-degree temperatures.  Creekwood was in excellent condition.  The Match Tournament started (1 week early); contact and pairing information is available on the web site and the Creekwood patio bulletin board.  GOOD LUCK to those who have elected to participate!!

We had 41 of 50 members (82%) (1 pre-play) and 6 guests make their way to the tee box. Those who missed yesterdays round will have the usual 1-week to play their make-up round.
Member attendance for the year is now 88%, while total attendance, including guests and make-up rounds is an EXCELLENT 95%.

The Creekwood staff is aware of the SLOW PLAY we are experiencing.  Hopefully, steps will be taken to insure that the NASA group ahead of us will start moving along at a more acceptable pace, (2:15) would be a good target.  However, if we are going to complain about their SLOW PLAY, you must keep up with the group ahead of yours!

With close to 50 members and the NASA league ahead of us, the Duffers MUST play READY GOLF!
Be ready to hit when it’s your turn
.  Plan in advance; think about your up-coming shot while you’re approaching the ball and go ahead and hit it if there is no one else in the vicinity, regardless of who has honors.  If you are not in another player’s way, line up your putt while another player is hitting his.  Regardless of the ‘beer girl’ not everyone in the foursome needs to hang around the beer cart when she is present, someone should be hitting the ball while others are buying the beer.  Please recognize that your proper position on the golf course is behind the group in front of you, NOT in front of the group behind you!’

Maintain your Final Tournament Eligibility by having no more than two absences during the season!

REMEMBER
, you have one week to play your make-up round.  You must play the same side that the league was originally scheduled to play.  Turn your scorecards in to a Creekwood Clubhouse Counter Staff Member, asking them to place it in the Duffer File, or give it to Stanny on Tuesday.

DUES are now 100% PAID-in-FULL!
Those of you who paid by check will see them clear in just a few days.  Thanx guys.

No Gimmies
ALL PUTTS MUST BE HOLED OUT AT ALL DUFFER EVENTS.
Any member who accepts a GIMMIE is potentially taking points away from other members and is deemed to be cheating.
Chip Dubosh will be glad to discuss this issue with anyone who doesn’t quite understand the rule.

The ’08 Match Play Tournament
Started May 6th.
Results can be monitored from the home page.

Contact your opponents and decide when you want to get your MATCH played.  You have until June 10th to get this first round played.

Skin News…
Our Skin Committee members are:
Mark Roth, Todd Cramer, Josh ‘Pronk’ Bunevich, Mike Milam, and Chip Dubosh.  Chip was added to replace Gerry Rapp.

Their duties are to: ENCOURAGE participation, ensure correct sign-in and tabulation, watch and sort the money, ensure there is no ‘after posting’, assist in score keeping, and help with prize money distribution.
If you have any suggestions or ideas about how the Skin Game can be run more efficiently speak with a committee member, or Stanny

SKIN RESULTS for Wk #04…
we had 37 out of the 40 players (93%) in the game for a pot of  $180
those not playing were…
 Jason Bundrant
– new guy, he’ll learn…
Donny Griffith – has decided NOT to play Skins this year
Jim Martin
– has decided NOT to play Skins again this year + he pre-played this week
Charlie Wright
– waiting for his game to come around ???
Hey guys… it’s just like the lotto, ‘you can’t win if you don’t PLAY!

Tuesdays Winners were…

Low Net (32) – Glenn McLaughlin – $12
Low Net (32) – Scott Roth – $12
Low Net (32) – Paul Scott – $12
Pin #12 – Pete Cloherty – $36

Pin #17 – Frank Bago – $36

TWO Skins were out @ $36 each
#11 – birdie – Mickey Lima
#13 – birdie – Mike Milam
Tradition dictates that they buy you a drink, or be heckled miserably!

NOTE… PLEASE DON’T PREMATURELY CIRCLE YOUR BIRDIES ON THE SKIN SHEET!  It’s a pretty television graphic presentation BUT it makes it VERY DIFFICULT to see the TRUE SKINS!

Reminder to all Skin Players…
This Year’s Skin Game is open to all dues paid MEMBERS (no guests).  Game entry (payment and entry indication) must be made prior to teeing off.
Posting and/or paying after your round is completed, is not permitted.

MORON’S CORNER… (Formerly JETHRO CIPHERS)
This is the spot where I will highlight (low light) the SPECIAL skills of Duffers and their simplistic mathematic disabilities.

7+6+4+4+7+6+6+5+4 = 49 not 51 – Josh Pronk Bunevich
6+6+5+6+5+6+6+5+6 = 51 not 50 – President, Jack Tabor
42-9 = 33 not 31 – Dale Sandvick (3rd time!)
51-0 = 51 not BLANK – Jason Bundrant

a friendly REMINDER…
It is each and every member’s personal responsibility to insure that his own score is CORRECTLY recorded (both gross and net) on the weekly skin / work sheet.  Even though you may not have been the person keeping score for the foursome, it is your duty to insure that it was done correctly!  Do it right and you won’t end up listed in the “Moron’s Corner”!

LARRY LAHIFF'S SKIN GAMES…
are a great way to   s t r e t c h   the summer holiday weekends and play a round of golf with friends at one of the areas FINEST golf courses.

This years dates are:
Friday May 23rd and Friday August 29th.
Again this year, both events will be held at Eagle Creek GC in Norwalk. The first tee time is ~9:30 and everyone is welcome to attend.
See Larry for further details or if you have any questions.
