LEAGUE INFO…
Recap…
Tuesday, April 29th was the third official week of the DUFFERS 2008
season. The weather was cold, cloudy,
breezy, and dreary, a far cry from last weeks’ near perfect, 74-degree
conditions. Only a few dues remain to
be collected and the Match Play Tournament is filled up!
With yesterdays “fall-like” conditions, attendance was much better than
anticipated! We had 42 of 51 members (82%) and 1 guest
make their way to the tee box. Those who missed yesterdays round will have the
usual 1-week to play their make-up round.
Member attendance for the year is now at 88%, while total attendance, including
guests and make-up rounds is 92%.
With close to 50 members and the NASA league ahead of us, the
Duffers MUST play READY GOLF!
Be ready to hit when it’s your turn.
Plan in advance; think about your up-coming shot while you’re
approaching the ball and go ahead and hit it if there is no one else in the
vicinity, regardless of who has honors.
If you are not in another player’s way, line up your putt while
another player is hitting his. Regardless
of the ‘beer girl’ not everyone in the foursome needs to hang around
the beer cart when she is present, someone should be hitting the ball while
others are buying the beer. Please
recognize that ‘your proper position on the
golf course is behind the group in front of you, NOT in front of the group behind
you!’

VERY NICE improvement!!
The Creekwood staff is aware of the SLOW PLAY we are experiencing. Hopefully, steps will be taken to insure
that the NASA group ahead of us will start moving along at a more acceptable
pace, (2:15) would be a good target.
However, if we are going to complain about their SLOW PLAY, you must keep up with the
group ahead of yours!

Maintain
your Final Tournament Eligibility by having no more than two absences during
the season!
REMEMBER, you have one week to play your make-up round. You must play the same side
that the league was originally scheduled to play. Turn your scorecards in to a Creekwood Clubhouse Counter Staff
Member, asking them to place it in the Duffer File, or give it to Stanny on
Tuesday.
No
Gimmies…
ALL PUTTS MUST BE HOLED OUT AT ALL DUFFER EVENTS.
Any member who accepts a GIMMIE is potentially taking points away from other
members and is deemed to be cheating.
Chip Dubosh will be glad to discuss this issue with anyone who doesn’t quite
understand the rule.
The
’08 Match Play Tournament…
All Match Play slots have been filled; go to the pairings bracket,
to see whom your first opponent will be.
Since most players’ handicaps have been up-dated, we might
as well get this tourney started.
Contact your opponents and decide when you want to get your MATCH
played. You have until June 10th
to get this first round played.

Tradition
dictates that they buy you a drink, or be heckled miserably!
NOTE… PLEASE DON’T PREMATURELY CIRCLE YOUR BIRDIES ON THE SKIN SHEET! It’s a pretty television graphic
presentation BUT it makes it VERY DIFFICULT to see the TRUE SKINS!
Reminder to all Skin
Players…
This Year’s Skin Game is open to all dues paid MEMBERS (no guests). Game entry (payment and entry indication)
must be made prior to teeing off.
Posting
and/or paying after your round is completed, is not permitted.
MORON’S
CORNER… (Formerly JETHRO CIPHERS)
This is the spot where I will highlight (low light) the SPECIAL
skills of Duffers and their simplistic mathematic disabilities.
5+4+4+5+6+5+5+5+8 = 47 not 48 – Scott Roth
43-5 = 38 not BLANK – Mickey Lima
42-0 = 42 not BLANK – Pat Lima
45-9 = 36 not BLANK – John Little
a friendly
REMINDER…
It is each and every
member’s personal responsibility to insure that his own score is CORRECTLY
recorded (both gross and net) on the weekly skin / work
sheet. Even
though you may not have been the person keeping score for the foursome, it is
your duty to insure that it was done correctly! Do it
right and you won’t end up listed in the “Moron’s Corner”!
LARRY LAHIFF'S SKIN

h the summer holiday weekends and
