LEAGUE INFO…

Recap…
Tuesday, April 22nd was the second official week of the DUFFERS 2008 season.  It was a perfect northern Ohio Spring afternoon with sunny skies and pleasant 74-degree temperatures.  If you missed today’s tournament, it was certainly “your loss”!   Member dues are being paid at a pretty good pace and the Match Play Tournament is filling up quickly.  Only ONE entry left so, if you want to play, see Stanny Tuesday.

With the enjoyable conditions, attendance was EXCELLENT.  We had 47 of 52 members (92%) and 3 guests make their way to the tee box.
Those who missed yesterdays round will have the usual 1-week to play their make-up round.
Member attendance for the year has risen to 88%, while total attendance, including guests and make-up rounds is 91%.

  OMG…   SLOW…   DARK…   5:26 18-hole pace-o-play

The Creekwood staff is aware of the SLOW PLAY we are experiencing.  Hopefully, steps will be taken to insure that the NASA group ahead of us will start moving along at a more acceptable pace, (2:15) would be a good target.  However, if we are going to complain about their SLOW PLAY, you must keep up with the group ahead of your group!

With close to 50 members and the NASA league ahead of us, the Duffers MUST play READY GOLF!
Be ready to hit when it’s your turn
.  Plan in advance; think about your up-coming shot while you’re approaching the ball and go ahead and hit it if there is no one else in the vicinity, regardless of who has honors.  If you are not in another player’s way, line up your putt while another player is hitting his.  Regardless of the ‘beer girl’ not everyone in the foursome needs to hang around the beer cart when she is present, someone should be hitting the ball while others are buying the beer.
Please recognize that your proper position on the golf course is behind the group in front of you, NOT in front of the group behind you!’

REMEMBER
, you have one week to play your make-up round.  You must play the same side that the league was originally scheduled to play.  Turn your scorecards in to a Creekwood Clubhouse Counter Staff Member, asking them to place it in the Duffer File, or give it to Stanny on Tuesday.
Also:
Even though no points are awarded to members whose dues are not paid-in-full, your make-up rounds are eligible for handicap and attendance purposes.  Maintain your Final Tournament Eligibility by having no more than two absences during the season!

No Gimmies
ALL PUTTS MUST BE HOLED OUT AT ALL DUFFER EVENTS.
Any member who accepts a GIMMIE is potentially taking points away from other members and is deemed to be cheating.
Chip Dubosh will be glad to discuss this issue with anyone who doesn’t quite understand the rule.

The ’08 Match Play Tournament
Is open to the first 32 interested, dues paid members.  Tournament details are available at the Duffers’ website.

Their duties are to: ENCOURAGE participation from our members, ensure correct sign-in and tabulation, watch and sort the money, ensure there is no ‘after posting’, assist in score keeping, and help with prize money distribution.

SKIN RESULTS for Wk #02…
we had 39 out of the 47 players (83%) in the game for a pot of  $190
those not playing were…
Rich Began
– new guy, he’ll learn…
Jason Bundrant
– new guy, he’ll learn…
Bill Bunevich
- dues
Ted Dieterich
didn’t notice the Skin box down by the tee box  L
Donny Griffith
– has decided NOT to play Skins this year
Jim Martin
– has decided NOT to play Skins again this year
Charlie Wright
– waiting for his game to come around ???
John Zitello (JZ)
– pre-played his round
Hey guys… it’s just like the lotto, ‘you can’t win if you don’t PLAY!

Low Net (30) – Wayne Reisinger – $38
Pin #12 – Mike Blaner – $38 – thanx for the beers Mike

Pin #17 – John Little – $38

Four Skins were out @ $19 each
#10 – birdie – Pete White
#13 – birdie – Tom Dickson
#15 – eagle – John Toth
#17 – birdie – John Little

Tradition dictates that they buy you a drink, or be heckled miserably!

NOTE… PLEASE DON’T PREMATURELY CIRCLE YOUR BIRDIES ON THE SKIN SHEET!  It’s a pretty television graphic presentation BUT it makes it VERY DIFFICULT to see the TRUE SKINS!

MORON’S CORNER… (Formerly JETHRO CIPHERS)
This is the spot where I will highlight (low light) the SPECIAL skills of Duffers and their simplistic mathematic disabilities.

6+6+6+9+7+7+5+6+7 = 59 not 58 – Wayne Cerney
6+7+3+10+6+6+7+3+5 = 53 not 54 – Ted Dieterich
4+6+4+6+6+5+5+4+4 = 44 not 45 – Mike Kennedy – 2nd week in a row…
43-9 = 34 not 32 – Dale Sandvick – 2nd week in a row…

a friendly REMINDER…
It is each and every member’s personal responsibility to insure that his own score is CORRECTLY recorded (both gross and net) on the weekly skin / work sheet.  Even though you may not have been the person keeping score for the foursome, it is your duty to insure that it was done correctly!  Do it right and you won’t end up listed in the “Moron’s Corner”!

LARRY LAHIFF'S SKIN GAMES…
are a great way to   s t r e t c h   the summer holiday weekends and play a round of golf with friends at one of the areas FINEST golf courses.

This years dates are:
Friday May 23rd and Friday August 29th.
Again this year, both events will be held at Eagle Creek GC in Norwalk. The first tee time is ~9:30 and everyone is welcome to attend.
See Larry for further details or if you have any questions.

'Till Tuesday,
