Hey Duffer,

It’s getting to be that time of year again, “Duffers 2008” is right around the corner.  Soon we will be enjoying pleasant, sunny, warm Tuesday evenings at Creekwood Country Club.  I’m writing to invite you to attend The Duffers 28th Annual Spring Kick Off Meeting, being held Sunday, March 9th, 2008, 12:00 noon, at the Creekwood Club House.  Golf, if you are interested, will follow the meeting.

Let me remind you that this is your only opportunity to determine league policy for the up-coming season and that you need not be present to be voted onto a committee or elected to serve as a league officer.

As usual, all Topics are open to discussion, including these same old standards…

League Officer Elections

           

President…
Candidates must exhibit a genuine interest in the betterment of ‘The Duffers’ and a desire to be involved and assist with many League activities.


Secretary…
Candidates should possess organizational and mathematical skills, a love of the game, better than average understanding of the rules, and a real interest in the betterment of ‘The Duffers’.


Treasurer…
Candidates should be ‘trust worthy’, have good attendance, especially early in the season, and be able to interact well with his fellow league members.  

 

Committee Elections and Appointments

 

Fun Night / Outing…
Members organize food, beverages, and games for the ‘Fun Night’ activities and assist at the Final Outing by collecting last minute skin monies, picking up prize placards, and assisting (if needed) with the scoring.


Skins…
Members assist with running the weekly skin game.  This year’s initial appointees are:     
Mark Roth,
Todd Cramer, Josh (Pronk) Bunevich, Mike Milam, and Chip Dubosh.


Rules…
Members officiate any disputes that might arise during league play.

Final Outing…
Menu:  BBQ Ribs, Steaks, Clam Bake, or something else, have any ideas???

 

 

Other topics up for discussion this year are...

 

Should the existing tournaments, rules, and procedures (dues / skins / putts / visitors) be continued, ‘as is’, or altered?

Should the current handicap adjustment factor of 87% be lowered so that ‘The League’ more closely approaches the USGA’s guideline of ‘playing to ones handicap’ 20 - 25% of the time?  FYI… Our current rate is almost 43%.  I feel this modification is in order and might increase our ‘better players’ chances of winning a Weekly Tournament.

Should
we alter the ‘MAKE-UP ROUNDS’ modification from net par or greater to the least points won during TUESDAYS play?

Should we expand our ‘MATCH Play’ experience to include a voluntary, season long, single elimination bracket tournament? ($10)

Should our ’more experienced’ members be permitted to use the senior tee boxes?

Or, if you have any other ideas, suggestions, comments, or new members, please join us at the meeting.

Tee Time…
  4:20 FYI… There’s a small league ahead of us that tees off from 3:48 - 4:13.     L

Practice Rounds…
  March 25 (back-9), April 1, and April 8.

Season Start…  1st official week, April 15.  (Dues and taxes must be paid-in-full)

Fun Nights… 
May 20, July 1, and August 19.

KnockDowns…  May 27, (front); July 8, (front); August 12, (back); and September 9, (back).

Final Outing…  Saturday September 20,  (9:00 a.m.)

I hope you’ve had a good and prosperous winter, and look forward to seeing you again soon. 
As in years past, if I do not hear from you, I will assume that you will NOT be playing this year.
