LEAGUE INFO…

Recap…
Tuesday, July 17th was the 14th official week of the DUFFERS 2007 season.  The weather was cloudy, wet, and warm.
With the annoying intermittent drizzle only 39 of 57 members (68%) and 5 guests played the back nine.
Member attendance for the year has dropped again, down to 87%, while total attendance, including guests and make-up rounds has disappointedly dropped to 95%.

Handicaps
have been adjusted.  The mid-season handicap adjustment has taken place.  The first four scores of the season were dropped from every players handicap record.
Check out the ’07 report’, on the home page, to see how much your handicap might have changed.

Pre-Play
'
The Committee’ amended the current Pre-Play definition to state that; “Any round started before 4:00 Tuesday, according to “The Starters timepiece” will be considered a Pre-Play round.  If there is a question about the “official” time and you wish to avoid the ‘Pre-Play penalty, ask “The Starter” to verify that you and your group are teeing off after 4:00.
FYI, Pre-Play rounds remain capped at NET PAR or greater and are ineligible for Skins entry and/or KnockDown Points.

Skin News…
Our Skin Committee members are: Frank Bago, Patrick Keaton, Todd Cramer, Mickey Lima, and Gerry Rapp.
Their duties are to: ENCOURAGE participation from both members and guests, ensure correct sign-in and tabulation, watch and sort the money, ensure there is no ‘after posting’, assist in score keeping, and help with prize money distribution.  If you have any suggestions or ideas about how the Skin Game can be run more efficiently please see one of them or Stanny.

RESULTS for Wk #14
we had 38 out of the 44 players (89%) in the game for a pot of  $185…
Those not playing were:
Mark Clark
Mike Kennedy
Jim Martin
JZ (guest)
+ 2 unknown guests
Hey guys… it’s just like the lotto, ‘you can’t win if you don’t PLAY!

Thi$ week$ money winner$ were

Low net (32) – Alan Bass – $18
Low net (32) – Chris Pizzuli – $18
Pin #12 – Brian Pfeil – $37

Pin #17 – Rob Sibley – $37

Four Skins were out @ $18 each
#10 – birdie – Rob (I’ll buy the beers) Sibley
#12 – birdie  – Greg Randolph
#17 – birdie – Paul Chichester
#18 – birdie – Chip Dubosh
Tradition dictates that the winners buy the drinks, or be heckled miserably!

NOTE… PLEASE DON’T PREMATURELY CIRCLE YOUR BIRDIES ON THE SKIN SHEET!  It’s a pretty television graphic presentation BUT it makes it VERY DIFFICULT to see the TRUE SKINS!

MORON’S CORNER… (Formerly JETHRO CIPHERS)
This is the spot where I will highlight (low light) the SPECIAL skills of Duffers and their simplistic mathematic disabilities.

5+6+4+7+3+5+6+5+6 = 47 not 48 – Bob Kosky

a friendly REMINDER…
It is each and every member’s personal responsibility to insure that his own score is CORRECTLY recorded (both gross and net) on the weekly skin / work sheet.  Even though you may not have been the person keeping score for the foursome, it is your duty to insure that it was done correctly!  Do it right and you won’t end up listed in the “Moron’s Corner”!

NOTE: If you wish to be considered for the ‘net’ portion of the ‘Skin Game’, the ‘net score box’ must be properly filled in.

LARRY LAHIFF'S SKIN GAMES…
are a great way to   s t r e t c h   the summer holiday weekends and play a round of golf with friends at one of the areas FINEST golf courses.

This years remaining date is Friday August 31st.

Again this year, the event will be held at Eagle Creek GC in Norwalk. The first tee time is ~9:30 and everyone is welcome to attend.
See Larry for further details or if you have any questions.

'Till Tuesday,
