LEAGUE INFO…

Recap…
Tuesday, June 12th was the ninth official week of the DUFFERS 2007 season.  With perfect sunny skies and 80-degree temperatures The Duffers made there way to the first tee box.  Yesterday’s attendance was pretty good with 49 (3 pre-play) of 57 members (86%) and 6 guests enjoying the near perfect conditions of Creekwood Country Club.
Member attendance for the year remains 89%, while total attendance, including guests and make-up rounds remains an EXCELLENT 98%.

As a result of Rules Committee deliberations, KnockDown #1 results are OFFICIAL and WEEKLY POINTS TABULATIONS have resumed.
Also, Pre-Play has been defined as “Any round started before 4:00 Tuesday.

REMEMBER, you have one week to play your make-up round.  You must play the same side that the league was originally scheduled to play.  Turn your scorecards in to a Creekwood Clubhouse Counter Staff Member, asking them to place it in the Duffer File, or give it to Stanny personally on Tuesday.

’07 Scheduled Events
Here are the tentative dates (weather permitting) for this year’s Duffer Events.

Fun Nites…
#’s 2 & 3
are June 26th, and August 14th.

KnockDowns…

Remaining KnockDowns are scheduled for:
July 3rd (back 9), August 7th (front 9), and Sept. 11th (back 9).

The second “Glenn McLaughlin Summer Solstice” Bonus Points Tournament…
scheduled for June 19th most likely will not be played.  The size of our league and time restraints with the leagues opposite The Duffers makes this event
impossible at this time.  However, the Summer Solstice still affords you a great opportunity to get in 18 holes, should you so desire.

Final Outing…
The Final Outing is being held Saturday, Sept. 15th, 9:00, at Creekwood Golf Course.  Mark your calendars now!

FYI, we will be enjoying a steak roast with all the trimmings, catered by Alexander’s.

Skin News…
Our Skin Committee members are: Frank Bago, Patrick Keaton, Todd Cramer, Mickey Lima, and Gerry Rapp.
Their duties are to: ENCOURAGE participation from both members and guests, ensure correct sign-in and tabulation, watch and sort the money, ensure there is no ‘after posting’, assist in score keeping, and help with prize money distribution.  If you have any suggestions or ideas about how the Skin Game can be run more efficiently please see one of them or Stanny.

RESULTS for Wk #09
we had 47 out of the 52 players (85%) in the game for a pot of  $230
Those not playing were:
Mark Clark
Dave Haeberlie
Jim Martin
Bob Nimrichter
Norm Dickson (guest)

Hey guys… it’s just like the lotto, ‘you can’t win if you don’t PLAY!
Please, encourage your guests to participate in the Skin Game!  After all, they are taking away valuable tee times from other “dues paying members”.

Thi$ week$ money winner$ were

Low Net (29) – Tim Roche –  $46
Pin #4? – Dick Ade – $46

Pin #7? – Gerry Rapp – $46

Two Skins were out @ $46 each
#4 – birdie – Mark Hodgson – thanks for the beers Mark
#5 – birdie – Chris Pizzuli
Tradition dictates that the winners buy the drinks, or be heckled miserably!

NOTE… PLEASE DON’T PREMATURELY CIRCLE YOUR BIRDIES ON THE SKIN SHEET!  It’s a pretty television graphic presentation BUT it makes it VERY DIFFICULT to see the TRUE SKINS!

MORON’S CORNER… (Formerly JETHRO CIPHERS)
This is the spot where I will highlight (low light) the SPECIAL skills of Duffers and their simplistic mathematic disabilities.

6+5+5+4+5+6+5+5+6 = 47 not 46 – Pete Cloherty

Denny Scheelk – for PREMATURELY circling his birdie on the SKIN SHEET and an unknown MORON who put four quarters in the Skin Box.

a friendly REMINDER…
It is each and every member’s personal responsibility to insure that his own score is CORRECTLY recorded (both gross and net) on the weekly skin / work sheet.  Even though you may not have been the person keeping score for the foursome, it is your duty to insure that it was done correctly!  Do it right and you won’t end up listed in the “Moron’s Corner”!

NOTE: If you wish to be considered for the ‘net’ portion of the ‘Skin Game’, the ‘net score box’ must be properly filled in.

CREEKWOOD DAY…
Our friends at Creekwood G.C. are celebrating their 47th anniversary, Saturday June 23rd.  It’s a great way to observe summers arrival and party with a few of your Creekwood friends.  For only  $70 (cash or check) you get golf (18 holes, individual stroke play), ˝ cart, lunch, dinner, beer, and PRIZES!  The menu, which is catered by Alexander’s, consists of a PIG ROAST, Bar-B-Q Chicken, sausage & kraut, rigatoni, salad, and all the trimmings.  Deadline for payment is Tuesday June 12th. See Lisa, in the clubhouse, to sign-up or if you have any questions.

LARRY LAHIFF'S SKIN GAMES…
are a great way to   s t r e t c h   the summer holiday weekends and play a round of golf with friends at one of the areas FINEST golf courses.

This years remaining dates are; Friday July 6th, and Friday August 31st.

Again this year, the event will be held at Eagle Creek GC in Norwalk. The first tee time is ~9:30 and everyone is welcome to attend.
See Larry for further details or if you have any questions.

'Till Tuesday,
