LEAGUE INFO…

Recap…
Tuesday, May 15th was the fifth official week of the DUFFERS 2007 season.  The weather was warm and windy with 80° temperatures!

We had 52 (2 pre-plays) of 56 members (93%) and 6 guests make their way to the first tee box.
Member attendance for the year has risen to 89%, while total attendance, including guests and make-up rounds is an EXCELLENT 99%.

Pat Anderson III
Wayne Reisinger
Mark Sustarsic
REMEMBER, you have one week to play your make-up round.  You must play the same side that the league was originally scheduled to play.  Turn your scorecards in to a Creekwood Clubhouse Counter Staff Member, asking them to place it in the Duffer File, or give it to Stanny personally on Tuesday.

’07 Scheduled Events
Here are the tentative dates (weather permitting) for this year’s Duffer Events.

Fun Nites…
#’s 2 & 3
are June 26th, and August 14th.

FunNite #1…
is next Tuesday May 22nd.  The food will be SAUSAGE sandwiches, macaroni and potato salads and all the fixin’s.
The Fun will be a 3-man team (you pick-‘em), GREEN BALL TOURNAMENT.  The event will be fully handicapped which will even out the field and prevent team stacking.  We will be playing regular weekly golf so Weekly Tournament Points will be awarded and those who miss the event should play a make-up round.

Here is how the GREEN BALL TOURNAMENT will be played.

Pick your own 3-man team.  Each team will be given one green golf ball to use in the event.  Your team must then finish the round with that ball, still in your possession, to be eligible for any prizes.

Each team member must alternately play 3 holes with the green ball.   For example, player ‘A’ will have the green ball on holes 1, 4, and 7, player ‘B’ will be given the green ball to play holes 2, 5, and 8.  Then player ‘C’ will play the green ball on holes 3, 6, and 9.   To add to the confusion, the tournament will be scored as a NET tournament, so the person hitting the green ball will record his ‘net’ score for the holes he plays with the green ball on the Team section of the scorecard and his gross score on the individual score row.  I know it’s confusing; maybe the example below will help.

FYI…
The GREEN BALL TOURNAMENT is 100% voluntary.  So if you are one of those four sums who must play together, three players can participate in the tournament while the forth player can play along for the fun of it all.  Since this is a net event, guests will not be able to participate but are welcome to come out and play along for the fun of it! ($5 for food & drink)

hint…
Choose your team members as well as your teams ROTATION wisely!  We will be playing the backside and there are six ‘water holes’ that come into play.  So, if you decide to gamble with the player who is getting two strokes on a hole, be prepared to loose the green ball and any chance your team may have had to finish ‘in the money’!

In case of a tie, total team putts will be used as the ‘tie breaker’ so COUNT EVERYONE’S PUTTS!

KnockDowns…
Are scheduled for: May 29th (front 9), July 3rd (back 9), August 7th (front 9), and Sept. 11th (back 9).

The second “Glenn McLaughlin Summer Solstice” Bonus Points Tournament…
June 19th (back + front)

Final Outing…
The Final Outing is being held Saturday, Sept. 15th, 9:00, at Creekwood Golf Course.  Mark your calendars now!

FYI, we will be enjoying a steak roast with all the trimmings, catered by Alexander’s.

Skin News…
Our Skin Committee members are: Frank Bago, Patrick Keaton, Todd Cramer, Mickey Lima, and Gerry Rapp.
Their duties are to: ENCOURAGE participation from both members and guests, ensure correct sign-in and tabulation, watch and sort the money, ensure there is no ‘after posting’, assist in score keeping, and help with prize money distribution.  If you have any suggestions or ideas about how the Skin Game can be run more efficiently please see one of them or Stanny.

RESULTS for Wk #05
we had 44 out of the 56 players (79%) in the game for a pot of  $215
those not playing were…
Wayne Cerney
Mark Clark
Tom Dickson
Bob Nimrichter
Brian Pfeil
Tim Roche
John Toth
+4 un-named guests   L
Please, encourage your guests to participate in the Skin Game!  After all, they are taking away valuable tee times from your fellow ‘Duffers’.
Hey guys… it’s just like the lotto, ‘you can’t win if you don’t PLAY!

Thi$ week$ money winner$ were

Low Net (29) – Paul Ebright –  $43
Pin #4 – Pete White – $43

Pin #7 – John Stanbrook – $43

Three Skins were out @ $28 each…
#2 – birdie – Patrick Keaton
#3 – birdie – Patrick Keaton
#7 – birdie – John Stanbrook
Tradition dictates that they buy you a drink, or be heckled miserably!

NOTE… PLEASE DON’T PREMATURELY CIRCLE YOUR BIRDIES ON THE SKIN SHEET!  It’s a pretty television graphic presentation BUT it makes it VERY DIFFICULT to see the TRUE SKINS!

MORON’S CORNER… (Formerly JETHRO CIPHERS)
This is the spot where I will highlight (low light) the SPECIAL skills of Duffers and their simplistic mathematic disabilities.

7+6+6+7+10+6+4+6+8 = 60 not 59 – Mark Clark

a friendly REMINDER…
It is each and every member’s personal responsibility to insure that his own score is CORRECTLY recorded (both gross and net) on the weekly skin / work sheet.  Even though you may not have been the person keeping score for the foursome, it is your duty to insure that it was done correctly!  Do it right and you won’t end up listed in the “Moron’s Corner”!

NOTE: If you wish to be considered for the ‘net’ portion of the ‘Skin Game’, the ‘net score box’ must be properly filled in.

LARRY LAHIFF'S SKIN GAMES…
are a great way to   s t r e t c h   the summer holiday weekends and play a round of golf with friends at one of the areas FINEST golf courses.

This years dates are; Friday May 25th, Friday July 6th, and Friday August 31st.

Again this year, all three events will be held at Eagle Creek GC in Norwalk. The first tee time is ~9:30 and everyone is welcome to attend.
See Larry for further details or if you have any questions.
