LEAGUE INFO…
Recap…
Tuesday, April 24th was the second official week of the DUFFERS 2007
season. The weather was typical
Cleveland spring with partly cloudy skies and pleasant 60-degree
temperatures. Attendance was pretty
good with 49 of 56 members
(88%) and 6 guests made their way to the tee box.
Member attendance for the year has risen to 82%, while total attendance,
including guests and make-up rounds is 89%.

REMEMBER, you have one week to play your make-up round. You must play the same side
that the league was originally scheduled to play. Turn your scorecards in to a Creekwood Clubhouse Counter Staff
Member, asking them to place it in the Duffer File, or give it to Stanny
personally on Tuesday.
Also:
Even though no points are awarded to members whose dues are not paid-in-full,
your make-up rounds are eligible for handicap and attendance purposes. Maintain your Final Tournament
Eligibility by having no more than two absences!
DUES ($100) are PAST DUE!
Members who still owe are…
Pat Anderson III
Bill Bunevich
Mark Clark
Tim Roche
Scott Wickham
Get your
dues paid and enjoy all the benefits of Duffer Membership… entry into the Skin
Game AND the WEEKLY POINTS you should have earned!
FYI, our New Members are:
Mike Blaner – friend of Frank Bago
Tom Broadhurst – friend of 10 year member, Paul Ebright
Mike Campbell – just happened to hook-up with Patrick Keaton and Mike Bartell
while they were playing a practice round
Chip Dubosh – friend of Paul Chichester
Dan Kennedy – Bob Kosky’s step daughter’s (beer girl) boyfriend
Jim Martin – friend of Paul Chichester
Bob Nimrichter – neighbor of members Mark Clark and Ron Cross

Please join me in
welcoming them all to the Duffers.
Introduce yourselves, buy them a beer, teach them the Duffer ways, and
do whatever you can to make them feel welcome.
No
Gimmies…
Unfortunately for some members, no one at the ‘Spring Kick-off Meeting’ brought
up the issue of holing out all putts. So, again this year…
Gimmies will not be
permitted! ALL PUTTS MUST BE HOLED OUT
AT ALL DUFFER EVENTS.
With
close to 55 members, the Duffers MUST play READY GOLF!
Be ready to hit when it’s your turn.
Plan in advance; think about your impending shot while you’re
approaching the ball and go ahead and hit it if there is no one else in the
vicinity, regardless of who has honors.
If you are not in another player’s way, line up your putt while
another player is hitting his. Regardless
of the ‘beer girl’ not everyone in the foursome needs to hang around
the beer cart when she is present, someone should be hitting the ball while
others are buying the beer.
Please recognize that ‘your proper position on the
golf course is behind the group in front of you, NOT in front of the group behind
you!’
’07 Scheduled Events…
Here are the tentative dates (weather permitting) for this year’s Duffer
Events.
Fun Nites…
May 22nd, June 26th, and August 14th.
If you have any ideas about games or menu items that you feel might be
appropriate, please see a committee member.
They are:
Patrick Keaton, Gerry Rapp, Frank Bago, Mickey Lima, and Dale Sandvick.
KnockDowns…
Are scheduled for: May 29th (front 9), July 3rd (back
9), August 7th (front 9), and Sept. 11th (back
9).
The second “Glenn
McLaughlin Summer Solstice” Bonus Points Tournament…
June 19th (back + front)
Final Outing…
The Final Outing is being held Saturday, Sept. 15th,
9:00, at Creekwood Golf Course. Mark
your calendars now!
FYI, we
will be enjoying a steak roast with all the trimmings, catered by Alexander’s.
Skin News…
Our Skin Committee members are: Frank Bago, Patrick Keaton, Todd Cramer, Mickey Lima,
and Gerry Rapp.
Their duties are to: ENCOURAGE participation from both
members and guests, ensure correct sign-in and tabulation, watch and
sort the money, ensure there is no ‘after posting’, assist in score
keeping, and help with prize money distribution. If you have any suggestions or ideas about how the Skin Game can
be run more efficiently please see one of them or Stanny.
Reminder to all
Duffers, especially our ‘early bird special’ players:
All Skin Game entry
(payment and entry indication) must be made on an official ‘Skin/Score
sheet’ prior to teeing off.
Posting
and/or paying after your round is completed, is not permitted. To help those wishing to play early, thus
taking advantage of an open tee box, Pat Anderson, who usually arrives early,
has agreed to bring an official Skin/Worksheet and Skin box to accommodate Skin
entry prior to Stanny’s arrival.
If anyone else would like to volunteer to bring an additional ‘early arrival
Skin/Score sheet’, see Stanny for details.
SKIN

we had 48 out of the 55 players (87%) in the game for a pot of $235
those not playing were…
Wayne Cerney
Mark Clark (dues)

Bob Nimrichter
Tim Roche (dues)
+2 unnamed guests
Hey guys… it’s
just like the lotto, ‘you can’t win if you don’t PLAY!
Low Net (31) – John Stanbrook (Stanny) – $47
Pin #12 – Mark Roth – $47
Pin #17
– Mike Milam – $47
Four Skins were out @ $23 each…
#10 – birdie – Patrick Keaton
#12 – birdie – Mickey Lima
#14 – birdie – Ron Cross
#17 – birdie – Mike Milam
Tradition
dictates that they buy you a drink, or be heckled miserably!
NOTE… PLEASE DON’T PREMATURELY CIRCLE YOUR BIRDIES ON THE SKIN SHEET! It’s a pretty television graphic
presentation BUT it makes it VERY DIFFICULT to see the TRUE SKINS!
MORON’S
CORNER… (Formerly JETHRO CIPHERS)
This is the spot where I will highlight (low light) the SPECIAL
skills of Duffers and their simplistic mathematic disabilities.
5+5+4+5+5+5+4+3+4 = 40 not 49 – Dick Ade (VERY costly mistake)
5+5+3+4+4+6+5+3+6 = 41 not 40 – Al Bass
6+8+5+5+6+7+9+4+7 = 57 not 58 – Wayne Cerney
5+7+4+6+5+5+7+4+4 = 47 not 46 – Tom Dickson
5+8+3+5+3+5+6+4+6 = 45 not 46 – Jim Martin
5+6+3+5+5+6+5+5+5 = 45 not 44 – Denny Scheelk
6+8+4+7+9+9+4+7+5
= 59 not 61 – Dan Kennedy
44 - 8 = 36 not 32 – Chip Dubosh
a friendly
REMINDER…
It is each and every
member’s personal responsibility to insure that his own score is CORRECTLY
recorded (both gross and net) on the weekly skin / work
sheet. Even
though you may not have been the person keeping score for the foursome, it is
your duty to insure that it was done correctly! Do it
right and you won’t end up listed in the “Moron’s Corner”!
NOTE: If you wish to be considered for the ‘net’ portion of the ‘Skin
Game’, the ‘net score box’ must be properly filled in.
