Recap…
Tuesday, July 11th was the eleventh official week of the DUFFERS
2006 season. The weather was typical
Cleveland summer with partly cloudy skies and hot humid conditions. The weatherman was 100% WRONG with
the legendary ‘Duffer Luck’ prevailing once again! Creekwood C.C. remains one of the plushest and greenest courses
in the area, and with the recent rains, the rough is the thickest I can ever
recall at Creekwood in July. That rough
must be avoided to have any chance of making a birdie! Our first group teed-off at 4:30 and
our final group replaced the flagstick at about 8:35. Seemed a shame that The Duffers wasted
another 30 minutes of useable daylight, I’m sure we could use some extra in a
month or so!
Attendance was again below par with only 42 of 54 members (78%) and 3
guests (83%) making their way to the tee box. Member attendance for the year has dropped to 86%, while
total attendance, including guests and make-up rounds is down to 90%.
Rules Committee… (Volunteer found)
Members officiate any rules disputes that might arise during league
play.
Pete White has stepped forward and asked to be included as a member of the
Rules Committee. THANKS Pete! J
MAKE-UP ROUNDS reported from last week…
none could be accepted due to the FunNite (6/27) SCRAMBLE format.

REMEMBER, you have one week to play your make-up rounds. You must play the same side
that the league was originally scheduled to play. Turn your scorecards in to a Creekwood Clubhouse Counter Staff Member,
asking them to place it in the Duffer File, or give it to Stanny on Tuesday.
’06 Scheduled Events…
As a result of discussions held during the Spring Kick-off meeting, I am
publishing a list of tentative dates (weather permitting) for this
year’s Duffer Events.
FunNites…
May 30th, June 27th, and August 8th
KnockDowns…
May 30th (front 9), July 11th (front 9),
August 15th (back 9), and Sept. 5th (front
9).
KnockDown
#2…
was held Tuesday evening.
Besides the usual KnockDown format, a special MATCH play BONUS
EVENT was held and I feel it was generally well received. The MATCH play event was voluntary and we
had 30 of the 42 (71%) members participate.
Most MATCH players felt it was enjoyable and a nice twist to the
usual Duffer format. KnockDown #2
results can be viewed at the website.
Skin News…
Our Skin Committee members are: Patrick Keaton, Gerry Rapp, Pat Anderson III, Randy Dudinsky,
Frank Bago, & Todd Cramer.
If you have any suggestions or ideas about how the Skin Game can be run
more efficiently please see one of them or Stanny.
Thanks for the help guys! J
SKIN
RESULTS for Wk #11…
we had 42 out of the 45 players (93%) in the game
for a pot of $321
those not playing were…
Wayne Cerney, Joe Kayfes, and one guest!
Hey guys… it’s just like the lotto, ‘you can’t win if you don’t PLAY’!
Low Net (32) – Paul Chichester – $13
Low Net (32) – Chris Pizzuli – $13
Low Net (32) – Gary Thomason – $13
Pin #4 – Tom Dickson – $41
Pin #7 –
Mike Bobincheck – $41
Four Skins were out at $50 each…
#2 – birdie – Joe Kayfes – but wait… he wasn’t in the game L
#3 – birdie – Paul Chichester
#4 – birdie – Paul (the drinks are on me) Chichester
#6 – birdie – Patrick Keaton
#9 – birdie – Mickey Lima
Tradition
dictates that the winners buy you a drink, or be heckled miserably!
NOTE… PLEASE DON’T PREMATURELY CIRCLE YOUR BIRDIES ON THE SKIN SHEET! It’s a pretty television graphic
presentation BUT it makes it VERY DIFFICULT to see the TRUE SKINS!
MORON’S
CORNER… (Formerly JETHRO CIPHERS)
This is the spot where I will highlight (low light) the SPECIAL
skills of Duffers and their simplistic mathematic disabilities.
7+5+5+5+9+6+4+5+7 = 53 not 46 – Pete Cloherty
5+5+6+4+6+5+4+4+6 = 45 not 46 – Jim Grimmer
7+4+4+4+5+6+4+5+7 = 46 not 51 – Dave Haeberlie
6+6+4+4+6+5+5+5+8
= 49 not 47 – Scott Pennell
53 – 18 = 35 not blank – Mark Clark
53 – 15 = 38 not 42 – Donny Griffith
a friendly
REMINDER…
Stay out of this column by taking a minute or two and check that the
scorer in your foursome wasn’t a MORON too!
LARRY
