LEAGUE INFO…
Recap…
Tuesday, June 20th was the ninth official week of the DUFFERS 2006
season. The weather was PERFECT yet
again with bright blue skies and 70-degree temperatures. If you were absent last night you may have
missed the nicest evening we will have all year! Creekwood C.C. is plush, green, and beautiful. The greens were
fast but a bit bumpy making every putt an adventure not to mention the heavy,
thick rough which must be avoided to have any chance of making a birdie at
Creekwood these days! Our first group
teed-off at 4:37 and our final group replaced the flagstick at 8:35. Seemed a shame that The Duffers wasted
30 minutes of useable daylight last night.
Attendance was again below par with 44 of 54 members (81%) and 6
guests (93%) making their way to the tee box. It was GREAT seeing past members Steve Morton and Glenn
McLaughlin play as guests last night, hopefully they will be able to return
soon. Member attendance for the year
remains 87%, while total attendance, including guests and make-up rounds is
91%.
FYI…
There will be NO league play on Tuesday July 4th!

REMEMBER, you have one week to play your make-up rounds. You must play the same side
that the league was originally scheduled to play. Turn your scorecards in to a Creekwood Clubhouse Counter Staff
Member, asking them to place it in the Duffer File, or give it to Stanny on
Tuesday.
’06 Scheduled Events…
As a result of discussions held during the Spring Kick-off meeting, I am
publishing a list of tentative dates (weather permitting) for this
year’s Duffer Events.
FunNites…
May 30th, June 27th, and August 8th
KnockDowns…
May 30th (front 9), July 11th (front 9),
August 15th (back 9), and Sept. 5th (front 9).
FunNite #2…
Is Tuesday (6/27). The
committee has decided that we will be playing a 4-man; you pick the teams, scramble. All scramble players will be teeing from the
RED tee markers and once the team reaches the green, all putting will be done
with a TENNIS BALL! The menu is sausage
and burgers along with the usual and customary picnic fare.
Since this will be an unusual format, missed rounds cannot be made up and
will not be held against your attendance record.
Skin News…
Our Skin Committee members are: Patrick Keaton, Gerry Rapp, Pat Anderson III, Randy Dudinsky,
Frank Bago, & Todd Cramer.
If you have any suggestions or ideas about how the Skin Game can be run
more efficiently please see one of them or Stanny.
Thanks for the help guys! J
SKIN
RESULTS for Wk #9…
we had 48 out of the 50 players (96%) in the game
for a pot of $235
those not playing were…
Wayne Cerney and one guest!
Hey guys… it’s just like the lotto, ‘you can’t win if you don’t PLAY’!
Low Net (29) – Rick Kayfes – $23
Low Net (29) – Mike Milam – $23
Pin #12 – Mark Sustarsic – $47
Pin #17
– Dale Sandvick – $47
Both Rick and Mike played their way out of the Consolation bracket
and into the Winner/Championship bracket. To maintain their positions in this bracket they must now
maintain 100% (no missed weeks) attendance for the rest of the season!
NO Skins were out!
The $94 pot will carry over and be added to the next regular Skin
game being held Tuesday July 11th.
Tradition
dictates that the winners buy you a drink, or be heckled miserably!
NOTE… PLEASE DON’T PREMATURELY CIRCLE YOUR BIRDIES ON THE SKIN SHEET! It’s a pretty television graphic
presentation BUT it makes it VERY DIFFICULT to see the TRUE SKINS!
MORON’S
CORNER… (Formerly JETHRO CIPHERS)
This is the spot where I will highlight (low light) the SPECIAL
skills of Duffers and their simplistic mathematic disabilities.
7+7+6+7+6+6+5+4+5 = 53 not 57 – Ron Cross
a friendly REMINDER…
Stay out of this column by taking a minute or two and check that the
scorer in your foursome wasn’t a MORON too!
LARRY
LAHIFF'S SKIN GAMES…
are a great way to s t r
e t c h the summer holiday
weekends and play a round of golf with friends at one of the areas FINEST golf
courses.
This years remaining dates are; Monday July 3rd, and
Friday September 1st.
Again this year, all three events will be held at Eagle Creek GC in Norwalk.
The first tee time is ~9:30 and everyone is welcome to attend.
See Larry for further details or if you have any questions.
