LEAGUE INFO…

Recap…
Tuesday, May 23rd was the fifth official week of the DUFFERS 2006 season.  The weather was springtime perfect with bright blue skies and 60-degree temperatures.  Creekwood C.C. is plush, green, and beautiful. The greens are recovering nicely from the recent aeration and you have to stay in the fairways to have any chance of making a birdie at Creekwood these days!
Our first group teed-off at 4:42 while the final group replaced the flagstick at 8:55.  Most rounds were played in about 2:20!
Attendance was VERY good with 48 of 53 members (91%) and 4 guests (98%) making their way to the tee box.  With last nights excellent conditions, member attendance for the year has risen to 84%, while total attendance, including guests and make-up rounds is up to 89%.

The League needed your HELP…  J
and thankfully these members took it upon themselves to step up and rescue the FunNites!

President…
Rick Kayfes has returned after a five-week hiatus.

FunNight / Outing Committee…
Pat Keaton and his gang have stepped up and volunteered to man the FunNight / Outing Committee!  They will take over and set-up the second and third FunNites.
The new Committee Members are:
Pat Keaton, Frank Bago, Gerry Rapp, Tom Thomasson, and Dale Sandvick. THANKS FOR THE HELP GUYS!!
See any one of them if you have any ideas about games or menu items for the two remaining FunNites.

Rules Committee… (Volunteer still needed)
Members officiate any rules disputes that might arise during league play.

FunNite #1…
Dale Sandvick has taken it upon himself to handle FunNite #1.  Next Tuesday (5/30) along with KnockDown #1, FunNite #1 will be held.  Pizza and beer will be available in the pavilion, after the round.  Besides the usual and customary Skin Game, an additional $5 money game (blind draw, team low net) will be held, making next weeks Skin game a $10 entry fee.

REMEMBER, you have one week to play your make-up rounds.  You must play the same side that the league was originally scheduled to play.  Turn your scorecards in to a Creekwood Clubhouse Counter Staff Member, asking them to place it in the Duffer File, or give it to Stanny on Tuesday.

As a result of discussions held during the Spring Kick-off meeting, I am publishing a list of tentative dates (weather permitting) for this year’s Duffer Events.

FunNites…
May 30th, June 27th, and August 8th.

KnockDowns…
May 30th (front 9), July 11th (front 9), August 15th (back 9), and Sept. 5th (front 9).

Skin News…
Our Skin Committee members are: Patrick Keaton, Gerry Rapp, Pat Anderson III, Randy Dudinsky, Frank Bago, & Todd Cramer.

Thanks for the help guys!  J

SKIN RESULTS for Wk #5…
we had 46 out of the 52 players (88%) in the game for a pot of  $225
those not playing were…
Wayne Cerney
Al Feronti
Wayne Reisinger and three guests!
Hey guys… it’s just like the lotto, ‘you can’t win if you don’t PLAY!

Low Net (31) – Tom Reiss - $45
Pin #12 – Mark Hodgson – $45

Pin #17 – Rick Lear –  $45

Five Skins were out @ $18 each
#10 – birdie – Pete White
#11 – eagle – Al Bass
#16 – birdie – Al Bass
#17 – birdie – Rick Lear
#18 – eagle – Paul Chichester
Tradition dictates that they buy you a drink, or be heckled miserably!
NOTE… PLEASE DON’T PREMATURELY CIRCLE YOUR BIRDIES ON THE SKIN SHEET!  It’s a pretty television graphic presentation BUT it makes it VERY DIFFICULT to see the TRUE SKINS!

MORON’S CORNER… (Formerly JETHRO CIPHERS)
This is the spot where I will highlight (low light) the SPECIAL skills of Duffers and their simplistic mathematic disabilities.

6+8+4+4+5+7+4+4+5 = 47 not 52Mike Milam
6+6+5+6+6+9+8+6+5 = 57 not 63 – David Zeller
7+5+5+4+4+6+6+4+5 = 46 not 48 – John Zitello

a friendly REMINDER…
Stay out of this column by taking a minute or two and check that the scorer in your foursome wasn’t a MORON too!

LARRY LAHIFF'S SKIN GAMES…
are a great way to   s t r e t c h   the summer holiday weekends and play a round of golf with friends at one of the areas FINEST golf courses.

This years dates are; Friday May 26th, Monday July 3rd, and Friday September 1st.

Again this year, all three events will be held at Eagle Creek GC in Norwalk. The first tee time is ~9:30 and everyone is welcome to attend.
See Larry for further details or if you have any questions.

CREEKWOOD DAY…
Our friends at Creekwood G.C. are celebrating their 46th anniversary, Saturday June 24th.  It’s a great way to observe summers arrival and party with a few of your friends.  For only  $70 (cash or check) you get golf (18 holes, individual stroke play), ˝ cart, lunch, dinner, beer, and PRIZES!  The menu, which is catered by Alexander’s, consists of a PIG ROAST, Bar-B-Q Chicken, sausage & kraut, rigatoni, salad, and all the trimmings.  Deadline for payment is Tuesday June 13th. See Amy, in the clubhouse, for further details or if you have any questions.
