LEAGUE INFO…
Recap…
Tuesday, May 16th was the forth-official week of the DUFFERS 2006
season. The weather was again typical
Duffer springtime weather. After
seven straight days of rain, drizzle, and dreary gray skies, the Duffer LUCK
stopped the rain at 4:30 and player’s shadows were actually seen during the
round! Creekwood C.C. was plush, green,
and beautiful albeit just a bit soggy; too bad the greens were still rather
bumpy due to last week’s rain and aeration.
You had to stay in the fairways to have any chance of making a birdie
last night!
Attendance was expectedly disappointing with only 38 of 51 members (75%) and 1 guest
(76%) making their way to the tee box.
With last nights damp conditions, member attendance for the year
remained at 81%, while total attendance, including guests and make-up
rounds is 85%.
The League needs your HELP…
As you may have read, due to the departure of a number of former
members, the league is in desperate need of a few volunteers to serve on
committees.
Here is a list of positions that need to be filled…
President…
Candidates must exhibit a genuine interest in the betterment of ‘The
Duffers’ and a desire to be involved and assist with most League
activities. This is generally
considered an honorary and figurehead position.
FunNight / Outing Committee…
Members organize food, beverages, and games for the ‘Fun Night’ activities
and help with the ‘Final Outing’ by planning games and activities, placing and
picking up prize placards, and collecting last minute skin monies.
Rules Committee…
Members officiate any rules disputes that might arise during league play.
If you feel you can help out in any of these positions, please step up and
‘lend a hand’!
If the Duffers Golf League is to continue as one of the finest, most
enjoyable, and successful leagues at Creekwood, some of you are needed to step
up and help out. For to long, to few have
done too much!
DUES and are now 100% PAID in FULL!
Thank you for your cooperation!

REMEMBER, you have one week to play your make-up rounds. You must play the same side

Member, asking them to place it in the Duffer File, or give it to Stanny on
Tuesday.
’06 Scheduled Events…
As a result of discussions held during the Spring Kick-off meeting, I am
publishing a list of tentative dates (weather permitting) for this
year’s Duffer Events.
FunNites…

It’s up to you guys now!

Low Net (33) – Frank Bago - $18
Low Net (33) – Randy Dudinsky - $18

Tradition
dictates that they buy you a drink, or be heckled miserably!
NOTE… PLEASE DON’T PREMATURELY CIRCLE YOUR BIRDIES ON THE SKIN SHEET! It’s a pretty television graphic
presentation BUT it makes it VERY DIFFICULT to see the TRUE SKINS!
MORON’S
CORNER… (Formerly JETHRO CIPHERS)
This is the spot where I will highlight (low light) the SPECIAL
skills of Duffers and their simplistic mathematic disabilities.
7+6+5+4+5+5+4+5+6 = 47 not 46 – Dave Haeberlie
a friendly REMINDER…
Stay out of this column by taking a minute or two and check that the
scorer in your foursome wasn’t a MORON too!
LARRY LAHIFF'S SKIN
GAMES…
are a great way to s t r e t c
h the summer holiday weekends and
play a round of golf with friends at one of the areas FINEST golf courses.
This years dates are; Friday May 26th, Monday July 3rd,
and Friday September 1st.
Again this year, all three events will be held at Eagle Creek GC in Norwalk.
The first tee time is ~9:30 and everyone is welcome to attend.
See Larry for further details or if you have any questions.
CREEKWOOD DAY…
Our friends at Creekwood G.C. are celebrating their 46th
anniversary, Saturday June 24th.
It’s a great way to observe summers arrival and party with a few of
your friends. For only $70 (cash or check) you get golf (18 holes,
individual stroke play), ½ cart, lunch, dinner, beer, and PRIZES! The menu, which is catered by Alexander’s,
consists of a PIG ROAST, Bar-B-Q Chicken, sausage & kraut,
rigatoni, salad, and all the trimmings.
Deadline for payment is Tuesday June 13th. See Amy, in
the clubhouse, for further details or if you have any questions.
