LEAGUE INFO…
Recap…
Tuesday, April 25th was the first official week of the DUFFERS 2006
season. The weather was cold and windy
but with no snow or lightning in the area the Duffers trudged to the tenth tee
to get this years activities under way. It’s nice to get the practice rounds
finished and begin the regular weekly season.
Those of you, who decided not to experience a typical Duffer start,
will have the usual 1-week to play your make-up rounds.
Attendance was expectedly poor with only 27 of 53 members (51%) and 0
guests making their way to the tee box.
Member attendance for the year is 51%, while total attendance,
including guests and make-up rounds is also 51%.

REMEMBER, you have one week to play your make-up rounds. You must play the same side
that the league was originally scheduled to play. Turn your scorecards in to a Creekwood Clubhouse Counter Staff
Member, asking them to place it in the Duffer File, or give it to Stanny on
Tuesday.
’06 Scheduled Events…
As a result of discussions held during the Spring Kick-off meeting, I am
publishing a list of tentative dates (weather permitting) for this year’s
Duffer Events.
Fun Nites…
May 23rd, June 27th, and August 8th.
With the departure of Bill and Brian Pfeil, we need at least two volunteers to
step in and help out on this committee.
Could YOU please help us out?
Your Outing Committee members are: Pat Anderson II, and Dale Sandvick.
Knock-Downs…
May 30th (front 9), July 11th (front 9),
August 15th (back 9), and Sept. 5th (front 9).
Final
Outing… Please NOTE!
The Final Outing has been re-scheduled back to its original date of
Saturday, Sept. 9th, 9:30, at Creekwood Golf Course. Adjust your calendars accordingly.
FYI, we
will be enjoying BBQ Ribs and chicken with all the trimmings, catered by
Alexander’s.
Future Final Outings…
In an effort to eliminate the annual negotiations about when the Outing should
be scheduled and in an effort to make that scheduling fair for everyone,
I believe we might institute the following revolving outing
schedule.
2006, September 9, 1st Saturday after Labor Day (our traditional outing date)
2007, September 15, 2nd Saturday after Labor Day
2008, September 20, 3rd Saturday after Labor Day
2009, September 12, 1st Saturday after Labor Day
2010, September 18, 2nd Saturday after Labor Day
2011, September 24, 3rd Saturday after Labor Day
2012, September 8, 1st Saturday after
Labor Day, etc…
Let me know what you think.
Skin News…
Our Skin Committee members are: Patrick Keaton, Gerry Rapp, Pat Anderson III, Randy Dudinsky,
Frank Bago, & Todd Cramer.
Their duties are to: ENCOURAGE participation (members
and guests), ensure correct sign-in and tabulation, watch and sort the
money, ensure there is no ‘after posting’, assist in score keeping,
and help with prize money distribution.
If you have any suggestions or ideas about how the Skin Game can be run
more efficiently please see one of them or myself.
A special thanks and
a round of applause goes out to one of last years skin committee member Pete
White, for his help organizing the skin monies during the practice rounds.
Pete's help and involvement has been greatly appreciated.
SKIN
RESULTS for Wk #1…
we had 26 out of the 27 players (96%) in the game
for a pot of $125
Low Net (35) – Dick Ade – $25
Pin #12 – John (Stanny) Stanbrook – $25
Pin #17
– Mark Sustarsic – $25
FOUR Skins were out @ $12 each…
#11 – birdie – Paul Chichester
#13 – par – Dale Sandvick
#15 – birdie – Randy Dudinsky
#16 – par – Mike Kennedy
Tradition
dictates that they buy you a drink, or be heckled miserably!
NOTE… PLEASE DON’T PREMATURELY CIRCLE YOUR BIRDIES ON THE SKIN SHEET! It’s a pretty television graphic presentation
BUT it makes it VERY DIFFICULT to see the TRUE SKINS!
MORON’S
CORNER… (Formerly JETHRO CIPHERS)
This is the spot where I will highlight (low light) the SPECIAL
skills of Duffers and their simplistic mathematic disabilities.
5+6+5+6+6+8+6+5+6 = 53 not 51 – Wayne Cerney
46-9 = 37 not 47 – Mark Hodgson
a friendly REMINDER…
Stay out of this column by taking a minute or two and check that the
scorer in your foursome wasn’t a MORON too!
LARRY LAHIFF'S SKIN
GAMES…
are a great way to s t r e t c
h the summer holiday weekends and
play a round of golf with friends at one of the areas FINEST golf courses.
This years dates are; Friday May 26th, Monday July 3rd,
and Friday September 1st.
Again this year, all three events will be held at Eagle Creek GC in Norwalk.
The first tee time is ~9:30 and everyone is welcome to attend.
See Larry for further details or if you have any questions.
'Till Tuesday,
